Subs or Turntable?

I’ve long wanted a VPI turntable, and I’m very drawn to the Prime series.

But the budget keeps being pushed out, and logically I think a pair of subs would make a stronger impact on the sound. Looking at REL t7x, which comes in lower than the TT.

So subs or TT? Logic or heart? What would you do?

Honestly I feel like I'm not that far off. EL34 based PSET class A integrated amp. 87db slim towers. I sit maybe 7-8ft away. I can't remember the exact measurement but it's not that far off. I basically fail to see how this level of effort and expense is going to improve anything vs just providing a different presentation. Especially when it is philosophically very close to what I'm already running.

I did have a lower end SVS several years ago paired with some JBL 590s. That system was a blast to rock out to, but I ultimately moved in another direction.

I only have two issues with the SVS 5000. First is that I would need speaker level inputs. My amp does not have any additional outputs and getting a different amp just to fit in a sub doesn't really make financial sense at this point. Secondly I have never heard a system that really impressed me that was running SVS subs. When I've been really impressed with a system that has subs, it's almost always REL or JL Audio subs.

Oh ok. It's a fabulous sub. Ranked 10/10 on AVS, but I'm confused, why are you asking about subs if you can't support the connection(s)

@fj40jason  The REL subs I specifically mentioned do support speaker level connections. That’s something REL does across their line and is a core element of their philosophy. Oddly at a glance the SVS-1000 seems to be the only subs in their lineup that support speaker level connections.

Oh yeah that's the outgoing tech from yesteryears.

I wouldn't recommend going with it.
