Accuphase vs Luxman

Greetings! Is anyone here familiar with Luxman M10x and Luxman C10x? I currently have Accuphase components consisting of an Accuphase A-48S Class-A amplifier,  an Accuphase C2300 preamplifier and an Accuphase DC-37 Processor/DAC. My system is definitely an upgrade from my previous McIntosh MA12000 integrated which I still consider to be a really good component.  The Accuphase is clean, precise but not clinical, dynamic and musically engaging. Mids are lush and bass is impactful and focused. It's like a beautiful custom acoustic with incredible sustain, decay and detail that resonates emotionally (what can I say,  I love guitars).

But what will the Luxman offer me? I should mention that I have Klipsch LaScala AL5 speakers and an Innuos Pulsar (not Pulse) streamer. I guess I'm just curious and love exploring different avenues.

There are 2 DC-100o's listed on the Canuck site - one in Ottawa and one in BC.  The BC listing shows a more realistic retail price - but it is 2K above the 2024 list price (which is the last year Canadian dealers could post Accuphase retail prices.  The reason is that we pay say C27K for the same unit that retails for US27K in the US - there is a big discrepancy between US and Canadian list prices).

The Ottawa listing has an inflated retail price but the asking price is decent - but as a dealer I think he has to charge HST.

The DC-1000 has the same list price as the C-2900, and the DP-770 is within 1K.  The DC-1000 is a much more sophisticated DAC than the DP-770 - it is not just a DP-770 minus the transport.  Look at them 'under the hood' on the Accuphse website.

Accuphase makes excellent phono-pre amps.  I have a C-47 which replaced the AD-2900 phono unit in my C-2900 which is an available option.  The AD-2900 is a much bigger and more substantial unit than the slim AD-60 phono card that fits into the C-2300.

I have an Accuphase E-380 integrated amp in a second system and I put a DAC-60 card in it and it is surprisingly decent sounding.

@lalitk makes some good points!

Accuphase makes incremental improvements and releases new versions of existing products every 5 years or so, but an 11 year old DAC is a little dated even if it is very capable.

That said I have a 3rd system in my kitchen where I listen to CDs when cooking/eating on a 15 year old Luxman D-06 SACD player that still sounds decent enough.  It is built like a tank and has a very smooth transport.

The DC-1000 DAC was a special anniversary flagship product to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

Holy smokes, both @Toronto416 and @lalitk are clearly discerning audiophiles with insight and experience! Lots of invaluable recommendations.  It's nice to know that they're are very respectful people here.  It's been an exciting yet arduous audio journey for me but with misses and hits comes experience.  It's not just a hobby, it has transcended into an enjoyable lifestyle.

That’s beautifully put! It is a lifestyle that enriches our world beyond just the pursuit itself.
