Garrard 301 - Project

I posted it as a curiosity as it just got listed recently. I like the glass dust cover/box, play with it open, no need to have a place to put a huge dust cover during play as I need to do now.

I definitely prefer my JVC CL-P2 7 layer plinth.

I would isolate the board from the box, spray sound deadening on the underside of the board and inside the box, perhaps some poly-fill within.  adjustable/leveling/isolation feet

there are ways to make it a darn good performer.

I never thought I needed 3 arms, however

1. custom built mono

2. current favorite MC

3. current favorite, lightest tracking MM

I go back and forth within seconds during any listening session.

Once you hear how good Mono can sound, you buy it without hesitation.

My final solution for my large 7 layer plinth was a set of 4 isolation blocks.

I later wrapped the edge with black tape so they are less obvious

I use a  AT Record Center Weight on my JVC TT81, weights 70 grams

One lightweight solution is to use a rubber reel holder, they grip the spindle, hold down without weight, they are a good choice for the Luxman Turntables with the DD Motor that uses it’s motor’s magnetics to repell/reduce 80% of the platter weight off it's bearing
