??? Would You or Have You Paid A Premium Price For A Component Because Of It's Looks ???

Simple question...
You have several choices for a new component your looking to buy...They all have wonderful sound and all the connections/features you need/want but 1 choice has a certain Je Ne Sais Quoi the others just don't have...Unfortunately that choice also carries a premium price that might cost you at least 15% & as much as 35% more than any of your other options..You have the extra $ so budget isn't the issue..
Have you,or would you go ahead & spend the premium to get that extra bit of pizzazz, knowing it's performance really isn't any better than a less expensive option,or do you follow your brain & opt to save the extra $ & get the choice that performs equally well, just doesn't quite have that something something that makes for an OMG experience even when it's not doing it's job as a music maker?

Let's say the question was about a new car....the answer is no, I wouldn't "pay up"  I would take the money that I saved on the car and buy better cables for my studio laugh

Autos, Stereos, Cameras, Furniture, Kitchen Appliances: I want to like it, each time it comes within sight, even when it's turned off (which is most of the time).

Looking at this right now, for hours at a time every day

I'm also a bargain hunter, and Mr. Fixit, so I also 'see' a great 'deal' when I eyeball something like that TT that I built with parts from two non-working ones, and the R2R player's Mickey Mouse Dust Cover which I saved for many years until I finally was able to use the X2000R vertically at stand up height for the 1st time after re-arranging my office, cutting down the height of the bookcases, arranging my chair/monitor dead center on the speakers ....

If I can't stand looking at her, she's not coming home with me. For some components you pay $500 extra for a black faceplate. Others, you pay $500 more for a silver faceplate. So obviously appearance is a factor for many audiophiles.

Ha!  Look at my virtual system!
Yes. I am that guy. I bought an Atoll MS120 streamer back in May. A few weeks later McIntosh came out with a new model. The DS200. I ordered it immediately. Fortunately the Atoll dealer is also the McIntosh dealer. He’s giving me 100% trade credit on the Atoll. Still waiting for the Mac though.
