Thank you for bringing this topic up! I have my own form of ADD and like bright and shiny things. I also note that some streamers that are thought to be "better" (always subject to debate here) have lovely OLED screens. They visually appeal to me - and that is not that minimal in consequence to me. When I look at folks systems, the ones that appeal to me *look* good - I am not interested in a cluttered and ugly setup in a messy home. The visuals of what our setup looks like seems important on some level.
That said, though, the Innuos Sense system or Roon, or QoBuz all provide a lovely interface to queue up music, and something on a tablet or cell phone seems to be of more value - to me - than the same setup sitting across the room on a postcard sized screen.
Sometimes, I think I accept stuff I do not want, to get that which I do want. If I was determined to own a HiFi Rose 130 I would be accepting the screen to get the hardware/software setup. Same for the upcoming Laiv Harmony NET2 (similar size screen coming). So I may end up with something (a screen) I do not need to get that which I want.
Reminds me of the terrific NPR show "Car Talk" with Tom and Ray Magliozzi. Their frequently recommended fix for a warning light on the dashboard was to tape it over with a piece of electrical tape. Perhaps I could cover up an OLED screen with a postcard, whereas those without a screen could also tape on a postcard to feel like they too have a screen! Win Win!
