Are there any recording artists you just can’t listen too?

For me there is one that has always been top of the list.

Edith Piaf…..l just can’t think of anything worse.

Do not get me wrong and consider my choice is in any way racist….l love to listen to music with songs in any language… Italian, French, Spanish…..

Russian and German can however be extremely demanding, but Edith Piaf (if possible in any language) is a potential harrowing experience.

Do any others on here have a similar artist, or artists that can trigger the same physical reaction?

And now, the rest of the story..

"Janis Joplin, John Frusciante -- the list goes on and on. There’s nothing fun about dancing with Mr. Brownstone, but Lennon was using the drug in the late ’60s, and ‘Happiness Is a Warm Gun' is about that push-and-pull of addiction, and "shoot, shoot" may be a reference to, well, shooting up. Luckily, Lennon beat the habit and avoided becoming another drug casualty.Heroin is a mistake a lot of great rockers have made. Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley,"

But if you wish to believe there is no smocking gun, I have no wish to shatter your illusions.

"I need a fix 'cause I'm going down
Down to the pits that I left uptown
I need a fix 'cause I'm going down

Mother Superior jumped the gun
Mother Superior jumped the gun
Mother Superior jumped the gun
Mother Superior jumped the gun
Mother Superior jumped the gun
Mother Superior jumped the gun

Happiness is a warm gun (bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
Happiness is a warm gun, momma (bang, bang, shoot, shoot)

When I hold you in my arms (ooh, oh, yeah)
And I feel my finger on your trigger (ooh, oh, yeah)
I know nobody can do me no harm (ooh, oh, yeah)"

@immatthewj ,

Oh, I've no illusions. They were drug taking hippies pure and simple.

From Benzedrine to LSD, they sampled it all.

A very interesting read is 'The Beatles Bible' website.

If you like the Beatles, that is.

In reality,  @thecarpathian ,   I do not actually  hate The Beatles.  In truth, many times in the way distant past I engaged in the illicit use of both licit and illicit drugs while their music was blasting on the stereo.  Just for the fun of it I was joining in on all the hate-posts for a while.  There is not a lot that I truly hate, although some of what I mentioned would fit into that category . . . as far as The Beatles,  I feel quite neutral about them--which to some would be synonymous with hate because I am referring to The Beatles.

However, quite seriously, I’d rather listen to Darkness On The Edge Of Town or Blood On The Tracks as opposed to anything by The Beatles.  But that does not mean that I  hate them.

. . . and as far as The Grateful Dead, there was a time in my life that I really did enjoy their music.  But that was a long time ago..

Have to agree with VThokie.   I think anything recorded with autotune sucks.  If you cannot sing it or record it you have no business making the freaking record!   Of course there is quite a bit of music I do not like.  Hey it is not my cup of tea.  That does not mean I should bash someone else for liking something!!
