Jeff Rowland, what happened ?

I haven’t seen anything new from Jeff Rowland in the past 3-5 years. A lot of their equipment on their website say suspended with nothing new coming out. I wonder if the brand is on its way out?

I emailed [email protected] and included a link to this post. My email was sent yesterday.

I told him I do not work for Audiogon but wanted JRDG to be aware of what people were saying. If I get a response, I will post it here. I have received nothing as of yet.

I lost respect for them when they started wrapping class D modules from another company in their fancy case work and charging ridiculous money.

Class D modules are semiconductors made by semiconductor companies like TI and Ice Power.

The job of boutique amp makers is not only an artistic case, but to add a custom Class A input stage and custom power supply.

Why not use the stock input stage and stock power supply that the modules come with? The goal is to generate audiophile distortion harmonics so the Class D amp can mimic the sound of Class A/B.

The latest models use Pascal Class D units and are excellent.

The collaboration with Danish Thomas Holm made outstanding sounding products.

I for myself had several preamps from Jeff Rowland in the last 20 years and now own a fantastic Daemon. Sonically it is fascinating, HP phono module, DAC, everything in a big nice box. You can use it as power amp or as preamp only, many ways to combine it with other gear. Or just use it as it is, a complete all-in-one solution.

Otherwise I listen to Kondo, Zanden, etc., so I really appreciate organic and natural sound, and Jeff Rowland delivers it as well in its way.

I know this is a little late by 8 mos but I was at Mr Rowland's place this past Thursday and felt maybe I should let a little information go as harmless as it is..The Jeff Rowland brand has always been classed with McIntosh, BAT, Theta and the like as audio gear to dream about..For me unless I'm on a constant vigil and hitting all the for sale venues pretty much all audio gear in the good stuff class is hard to impossible for me to finance..Over this century my occupation and the dynamic economy has had me living a sort of adventure in that to keep a consistant paycheck I have had to move a lot through several parts of our country with the last stent being in Grand County Colorado..Being from small town East TN I knew I was going to be living close enough to what has to be one of the best places in the world to live if you love sound quality high end audio..I made the best of it in the 7 years I lived in Grand Lake..One of the better hauls was a pair of Rowland Model 3 monos a guy let me have for 1000.00 with crates and all and a Klyne Sk6 for slightly less but this is about Jeff Rowland so recently one of the Rowland Model 3's  went down and on one of my drives back to Cherry Creek I make every 3 mos I called the Rowland factory to ask if I could drop them off and pick them up in another 3 mos..They said yes and when I got there 4 employees were busy and helped me with the paperwork to put with them..One lady asked if I could hold one a sec and she would introduce me to Mr Rowland..In a moment walked out from a room a tall man of slender almost lanky build and mostly dark still mostly covered head of hair with pearcing eyes that seemed to question me and inform me at the same time..Look here y'all, I've spent 40 some odd years in healthcare and met a ton of people over time and generations..I have never met anybody who had such a suttle unnoticed and yet profound effect on me that I'm still carrying or I wouldn't be writing this response in the first place..When she first introduced us I said something like Hello Rowland it's very nice to meet you..He just looked at me and turned around and walked away..The lady looked at me and shrugged her shoulders so I told her not to worry one little bit because I'm mostly the exact same way, to the point I get asked what's wrong quite often..I saw some relief in her face and left to get in my car and drive back to Cherry Creek and then on to TN..Where I'm at here is The Springs btw..Anyway as I'm starting the car here comes that tall guy introduces himself again through my window and before long we are talking practically non stop until we realize we better get going if we are to accomplish all that Mr Rowland proposed for that day and my amps..Since I was going to be in the area most of that day he said he would fix and upgrade my amps and have them ready when I got done if I would head back down to the Springs on my way home..When I got back he invited me inside for supper where I sat at the kitchen table with Mr Rowland and his wife..that he cooked..and it was excellent : ) ..I have to say here that this is a setting I would normally run away from as I'm more to the side of introvert and not the social superman by any stretch but for this entire time I never felt a tinge of anxiety..I've never written anything like this and it might be the wrong place to do it now but at the same time we are the people who understand the passion of sound and the art of componetry so what better place? If there is let me know because I feel like this guy is as good a American Hero as this nation is able to produce and I'd like to share the inspiration he triggered in me by being no one other than Jeff Rowland..I despise arrogance and I think I can smell it even with a bad cold and my nose and head stopped up but when I had a question about Jeff's education and got his answer I said "So you were just naturally born being brilliant?" The answer he gave was yes, which has no special anything about it but he said that one word in a matter of fact way that carried no arrogant frequencies I could feel at all..Don't know about you all but I love that genuine to the bone character so few seem to have these days..He and I talked for a few hours about all kinds of stuff from audio to what it is to be Spiritual..So to hit on the original intent of this conversation..Business has slowed down and Mr Rowland seems to just be beginning to do that also..Which after just retiring myself at 12 yrs younger I can only admire the life he has lived in the way he has devised through designing and promoting his own thing..So many of us never even see the four leaf clovers for wanting to be like all the many more  3 leaf clovers
