Ayre QX-5 Twenty

Is there anyone out there that either owns this DAC or has heard it?  What do you think about compared to other DACs at this general price point? Do you have an opinion as to whether DACs that employ chips like the ESS are necessarily inferior to ladder DACs etc?

^^ That is one of the weirdest post I’ve ever seen on this site. But looks like lots of bad days in their posting history. Mojo Audio is a fine and known brand around here for many years. Lots of oddness in that one post, even for here.

Another vote for Ayre.  I have QX 5 and AX 5.  Competes with anything out there at any price.  Great support from the company and US made.  Internal Ethernet streaming is excellent.  I also have a separate streamer, not sure it's needed.

The AYRE AX-5 and QX-5 makes for a very fine combination for those Audiophiles not wanting a disc-spinner.

@phastm3 I was reading the post above where you said the QX-5 twenty is your favorite DAC.  This was a few years back when you posted.  Do you still stand by that or have you found something better?  Do you use the built in streamer?  I am curious how it compares to some of the newer model DAC’s since it getting up in age.  Some of the newer DAC’s are using several ESS chips together and I imagine clocks are also getting better.  Let me know what your think also quiet a few people say the Mojo Audio DAC's is much better can you tell me your take on that?
