Because they are a polarizing issue, a lot like politics.

With all due respect that is BS. The vast majority of those who cause the disruption have NEVER TRIED the product. Most are using ten cent equipment and wouldn't spend a nickel to see Jesus dance on the head of a pin. They have no experience with it so why are they saying anything? They don't have any knowledge base to work with.
I once bought a Luxman top dog receiver which I hated every minute I spent with it. Yet, when I see a thread about Luxman, I don't cause disruption, even though I OWNED a Luxman. its called manners and civility. If you've tried it and didn't like it, then say so and say why. But if you have no experience with it you should keep your mouth shut. If they acted this way in public, they might get their a** beat, something apparently they didn't get as a child.

They're alive and well. I have a few of their products, not the outrageously expensive ones. I've been receiving emails from customer service regarding a delivery date for a power conditioner module. Like many companies, they are experiencing production delays.

By definition, intellectual property is usually a closely guarded secret.

Having said that, most cable bells and whistles are not even worthy of a patent, because that would require some threshold levels of actual research by someone with a university education in engineering, and novel inventiveness and perhaps a couple other things, to be passed.

There is one company which does do a lot of genuine research, and it does describe the lengths it goes to deliver robust technology.  No secret that Blue Jeans Cables distributes the product (I trust mentioning that name is not a blockable offence).
