Your Favorite Cover Songs?


One of the highest honors that can be bestowed on a rock band is to have some other well known act cover your songs.

Here are some of my favorite cover songs:

Maybe the best cover band from the 60s was Vanilla Fudge. Perpetually overlooked and underrated, they worked their covers into entirely new arrangements with extended jams and recurring themes to the extent that they were barely covers anymore. Yes, they were accused of bombastic and hyped up deliveries of "chestnuts", not to mention Mafia connections, but they still managed to make these songs fresh and new.

They did excellent Beatles tunes, including "Eleanor Rigby" and "Ticket to Ride", and gave the Supremes "You Keep Me Hanging On" an entirely new twist.

They are the benchmark of how covers should be done.
