Would a McCormack UDP-1 benefit with a new DAC?

I'm looking to keep it under 2,000. Would there be an improvement, or is it just a lateral move?

If you're can be upgraded I would go that route rather than buying another set of cable and DAC. Besides, I owned the McCormack UDP-1 Deluxe and it's a VERY good player.
