Tidal Speakers owners

Could you please write your impressions about the Tidal speakers you currently own ? I will probably buy the Tidal Piano Cera in the near future so I would appreciate your feedback...

Tbg not in the way you imagine or mentioned in 99% of the reviews. Musical in a very transparent and FLAT way. The Sovereigns are as musical as the music itself is...At least more than most amplifiers I have heard! IMHO

Mike
Can someone comment on the Tidals having a bit small images and not great body on the instruments? Thats what a friend of mine told me that he read in some German forums....

Mike
Ok Linkster thanks for the answer! I also think that he actually means lack of bloom, in a bad way I mean! I just wanna make sure I am making the right decision!:)

Happy Listening,

Mike
I personally consider the stealth Indra better than the argento flow! That is in direct comparison in my system!
Still at Munich due to the volcano problem but cannot believe the sound I heard yesterday in the Tidal room! The most amazing sound I gave heard, amazing cohereness and timbre!!! So so natural sound!!
Today I am ordering the Piano Cera SE, with Argento Flow cabling inside. I cannot listen to ANYTHING else anymore!!!

Cant wait!
Thanks Karelfd!

A dream comes true, I had started losing hope in this hobby until I came across the Tidals! They just stand so far away from any competition.

I will be driving with my Wavac MD-805m. If those Watts are enough, I am sure its going to be a match made in heaven! Pure Bliss!

Thanks again! :)
Thanks Kclone, I am sure I made the best decision I have ever made in this hobby. I am that sure...;)

Just to clarify something when I talk about a Piano Cera SE, I mean that I will use a Flow cable from the binding posts to the crossover and not the complete internal wiring of the speaker.

Cant wait!
Hi Linkster!

Thanks for your kind words (I accidentally missed before)!

Yes, I felt I needed to clarify this as it could be very confusing for current and future Tidal owners!

How long did it take for your speaker to arrive? Can you please comment on the break-in period?

Regards,

Mike
The first time I heard them I didnt even know the name, of course no reviews and I opened the first Tidal thread here in Audiogon two years ago! I knew I had to buy this speaker from the very first minutes of my first audition!

Kind Regards,

Mike
Guys thanks very much for the insightful answers!

I just placed my order! :) My stomach is "aching" from the excitement!

I once again listened to the Contrivas, it is just not normal what these speakers can do! You could EASILY differentiate each recording from each other and it sounded so scarily real!

Time passes slowly....:)

Mike
Kclone the size of my room right now is 4x5 m2 (dedicated) but soon I will be moving to a treared-dedicated 8x6! :)

I am usually listening at 85-90 db average and very few times around 100 average (110 peaks). Hope the piano can easily reach such SPL's.

Happy listening Everyone!

Mike
I would like the Tidal Piano owners to please comment on their speaker set up, distances from front-side walls, with each other, and how that affected their sound! Hope I am not asking much....:-)

Happy listening,

Mike
Is everybody listening to their speakers? Come on guys, feel with me, anticipation is the worst feeling! lol
Kclone I suppose you are right, anticipation is part of the story but..... I can say I enjoy it!:)

tbg no clue, I hope I have them by the end of July but this is just my estimation!

Have a good day,

Mike
I agree Ptmconsulting, it is always so refreshing seeing people 100% satisifed with what they have! ;)

Happy Listening,

Mike
Yesterday I had the chance of auditioning a Tidal Piano Cera, the only Tidal speaker I hadnt listen from their line! In one word AMAZING, it indeed sounds like a Sunray for a small room!! Cant wait, I hope I will have mine in a month!

Mike
Kclone as a power amp we used an Electrocompaniet 2 x 250, do not remember the model.

As a preamp, an Aaton Cineast and a Sovereign Director. The difference between the two was huuugeeeeee! The Tidal managed to display all attributes that made the Director a better preamp. It was absolutely SHOCKING how easily you could spot the differences. I have never heard differences between two preamps so easily.

The source was a Resolution Opus 21 and then my Orpheus DAC1!

Cables from epoch and then the famous Organic from Argento.

Kw13 the great thing about Tidal is that all their models differ only the size of the rooms that can fill. If you had ask me about the normal Contriva I would say that the only difference is bass output. But with the Contriva diacera SE I would add the naturalness of the diamond tweeter!

Just pick the speaker that fits your room and then add the Diacera option if you can go for it!

Happy Listening everyone!

Mike
Kclone unfortunately I cannot tell you something more than what Jorn told you. I have heard that it depends on the type of music you are listening the quality of the recordings. For example if you listen to Rock, Metal etc where the recordings are not so good you should go for the normal Piano, if you listen to other genres where quality of recordings is better then the Cera would be a better choice!

But dont try to compare auditions, what sounds awesome to me maybe be mediocre to you, you know words cannot really express what we listen to we dont have a common ground in describing sound except if we listen to the same thing the same time!

To tell you the truth I am not a big fun of Audio Research preamps It could contribute to the not so good sound you describe!

Happy Listening,

Mike
I am actually happy we found someone that heard the Tidals and didn't like them, even in one of the two auditions, cause it started getting spooky with no negative results about these speakers....lol

Kind Regards,

Mike

...still waiting for my Piano
Ciro I heard the TAD Reference both last and this year in Munich! Although an amazing speaker to my ears the Contriva is in a different class. At any chance you got to listen for yourself an decide.

Kind Regards,

Mike

P.S. Waiting for my Piano Cera...:)
Awesome Calloway, please keep us posted on how the break-in goes!

Happy listening my friend

Mike
OK it is been almost a month with the Tidal and 10 days with the Sovereign. The sound is unbelievably real, I could never imagine a system reaching such a level of reproduction. Transparency and detail top notch, you can hear......everything. But also it conveys the meaning of the music so well, it bring tears to your eyes!

Happy Listening everyone,

Mike
My Tidal Piano Cera finally arrived! I am still in awe from the sound quality, stay tuned for listening impressions! Super clean and accurate, super fast and musical at the same time!

Mike
One week with the Piano Cera has passed. It is amazing how this speaker manages to pass the emotion of the music but sounding just RIGHT.

I will be honest with you, after 10 years I had kind of lost hope on all speakers out there. They all had distinctive sounds that when spotted I was ready for my next upgrade. I was ready to drop out from the hobby until i heard the Tidal line for the first time 3 years ago.

I still remember a tear in my eye from the first tune "Soldier of Fortune" from Whitesnake, a live from Japan. From that moment there was no way back for me.

Since then I listened to all Tidal line in several occasions and systems. At first you cannot understand what is really going on but after some minutes you are shocked from the spot on tonality, phase, resolution! The crossover points are just untraceable living just the music!

This is my last speaker for many years to come, thats for sure.

A big thanks to TIDAL for bringing back music in my life. The indeed build emotions!

Happy listening everyone and thanks for the big support!

Mike
Last night I had the chance of auditioning probably the best system in my life, it consisted of:

Tidal Sunray Speakers
Sovereign Glory monoblock amps
Tidal Presencio preamp
Orpheus Heritage DAC
Full flow master reference i/c and speaker cables

It left me breathless, I thought it was impossible to reach this level of performance in audio. I seriously doubt I will listen to sth better ever. It was that good!

By the way my piano cera indeed sounds like a small Sunray, it doesnt have that top and bottom end, as well as soundstage size but it is very very close it is spooky!

By the way I have a hard time driving my Piano Cera with 55W of the Wavac, that is to comment on the above posts.

Happy Listening,

Mike
That is great Calloway! One of my friend a trust a lot says the Chalice is probably the best valve amp out there. Whatever best means,...

The first sound preamp, that I have heard in my system, has a lot of gain thats probably why you dont have a problem with driving your speakers!

Although I am using a Wavac right now, which claims to be 55W, I have a problem with bass as my preamp has minimum gain and also my source has only 0.6V output.

Happy Listening, I am sure it a great choice!

Mike
Hello DEV.

I have heard the Sunray on many occasions, from very small rooms (like 20m2) to very large ones (150m2).

You shouldnt worry about this, Sunray is a very well executed speaker that has the ability to show what it can do in many different rooms.

Happy Listening,

Mike
I eventually sold the Wavacs and I am waiting for the Sovereign Glory power amp and Sovereign Director preamp, match made in heaven with the Tidals!!! I cannot wait!!!!
Three days with the Sovereigns and what I listen to sounds.....flawless! Hehehe! Accuracy, music flow, detail, micro and macrodynamics are all there and it feels great! Ok, I think I am done for a long time!!

Thanks everyone for sharing experiences!

Mike
I have not heard Ypsilons with Tidal speakers but I have heard ypsilon amps a lot of times with different speakers. Ypsilon is good but in my honest opinion for a speaker like the Tidal to really shine and show its best you need raw power as little distortion as possible cause these speakers dont forgive ANYTHING in the associated equipment.

On the other hand I have heard Tidals with Tidal electronics and sovereigns amps many times and I can tell you that both combinations are made in heaven. Tidals are a bit more neutral than the Sovereigns or the Sovereigns are a bit mure musical than the Tidals.

IMHO

Mike
Kclone to ne honest I have the exact opposite opinion! Because of it's completely flat response you can still hear everything at low levels around 85db! Nothing is hiding, everything still sounds at it's place!

On the other hand it really shines on realistic SPLs as great speakers should!!

IMHO

Mike
On the other hand this is not sth that has to do only with the speaker but with all associated components and cables.
Kclone the human ear perceives different frequencies at different SPLs, for example middle and high frequencies are perceived louder than low frequencies even at the same decibels!

That could explain sone of the differences you mention!

Happy Listening,

Mike
Stew nordost cables or any other "wrong" sounding component is not a good match with Tidals, experienced this as well with nordost!

Enjoy!

Mike
How much toe-in do you guys have? Tidal suggests in the manual that the optimum position is perpendicular to the back wall! Where do you think it sounds it's best? I am still experimenting with this, any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Happy Listening,

Mike
Hi Karel!

What were the differences you are noticing the more you toe in? To me the tonalty of the sound changes as well as the soundstage.

In my case the speaker is around 80cm from the side walls that is why right now I prefer to toe them in a lot, with the speakers crossing just behind me. I would say around 35 degrees of toe in.

When I have them perpendicular to the back wall i get a more expansive soundstage but the side wall interferes more.

the sound is also more dense with the toe-in I use!

happy listening,

Mike
Congrats Quanmer, please share you impressions!

As for me, every time I go home from work, even after 6 months of owning the speaker, I feel like I am listening to it for the first time!!!

Happy Listening guys,

Mike
How many of you have used Tidal speakers with no preamp? Can you share your impressions please?

Happy Listening,

Mike
Tbg saying the the Contriva SE sounds betters to you than Sunray, is not very complimenting for both Tidal and you headring capabilities, no offense! lol
Focalfan it is funny that 90% of your answers in this forum, I just checked by the way, refer to Tidals and how bad sounding they are. Sales are dropping huh?
You should wait the burn in period until the sound of your speaker settles down, cause it is going to change quite a bit and then do the tweaking you are thinking about!

IMHO
