Tariffs and sky high audio prices.

With the Chinese tariffs taking hold on 100% of the imports and maybe even on Mexico forthcoming, the audio industry is going to see another big jump in their sky high prices. Anyone making purchases ASAP to get lower prices from existing inventory before post tariff products enter the marketplace?

So just today:.

1) its reported that Trump admin put the kebash on a climate change report that did not jive with the policy. To hell with mother earth......

2) NYT reports Mexico agreed to the actions to help with migrants a ways back

1984 indeed. Some people approve.
Blind Faith?

They were very good.

Hi-fi tie-in, thank you very much......šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ½šŸ‘šŸæ
Clearthink,

As always Iā€™ll hope for the best but will leave the have trust in Donald Trump part solely to you. Cheers!
Every policy has its winners and losers.

Who is going to give the vast numbers of relatively poor, and perhaps also a fair chunk of the middle class, who already cannot make ends meet legally in many cases, a fighting chance when prices at Walmart go up?

Many would say poverty and the crime and other social dysfunction that goes with it is public enemy #1.

Unfortunately the Mom and Pop stores Walmart ran off arenā€™t coming back... they will continue to operate at a disadvantage no matter where the goods come from.

Much harder to turn back the clock than to move forward.....
What about all those other smart people in years past who were also successful business men? Not to mention all those out there in other countries today who avoid trade wars? Those in the USA who have not lost as much as Donald Trump? Which according to known tax docs to-date is apparently, uh, everyone?

Confidence? Surely you jest?

Weā€™ll see....

Again, there will not even be endless lawyers and lawsuits to back him up in this one, not that those prevented his past failures that pretty much everyone else who did business with him paid for except him.

Heā€™s top notch at selling himself and his brand, I will give him that!Ā  But I don't think most of our major trade partners these days are very impressed.
Well, it's Audiogon's house so gotta respect their rules, like them or not.
Actually the new guideline was donā€™t "bash the president".

Iā€™ll agree with that if he will agree to stop bashing everyday citizens that he impacts that happen to challenge him with his low class tweets. By the way, he happened to take an oath to protect all to get the job. Go figure!

Hopefully that does not mean no proper criticism. Itā€™s still a free country, right? The president (happens to be Trump at present) is apparently already immune as well from being indicted by our justice department and congress still appears mostly afraid of his tweets.

No crown and robe quite yet......
I donā€™t know what comes next but on the bright side some say anything that helps assure only another year or so of Donald Trump canā€™t be all bad.

Allegedly.....

In other relevant good news, my hifi still sounds good so far despite tariffs.

2/3 of my gear is from good olā€™ US companies, mostly Audio Research and Bel Canto in Minnesota and OHM in Brooklyn, but I fear most of the parts even for those come from China and perhaps even Mexico.

+1 Strikeeagle

ā€œtrade wars are good, and easy to winā€

Trump knows best?

Lawsuits can't help with international economics and politics..
The US is numb to many bad things these days.Ā  Ā Crime, shootings, corruption, you name it.

As I recall, it all started with this guy:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morton_Downey_Jr.

mhdt DACS are wonderful sounding, reasonably affordable, and made in Taiwan I believe.Ā  Ā Would hate to see those affected.
If he is not a globalist, why is he trying to make deals with other countries?
We need more civil discussions like this in more places, not less.

As long as things stay on topic, remain civil and do not violate the posting rules, one would hope posts do not get zapped.
Itā€™s easy to say you are or are not something. But the facts need to support the claim. Trumps business history is that of a globalist. But that will not sell well to his base so he now says he is the opposite a nationalist. He will say whatever he thinks will sell himself best that day. Means nothing. Always follow the facts and money, not words.

Right now he is a very unsuccessful globalist politician trying to strong-arm others to accept his deals.Ā  Ā Nationalists love that!Ā  Ā Weā€™ll see how that works out...
ITā€™s not at all at odds with America First. One always looks out for themselves first in any interaction. However good deals tend to be mutually beneficial.Ā  You canā€™t just look out for yourself and expect a "good deal" Maybe with a gun to the other persons head but you will likely regret that later.

globĀ·alĀ·ist/ĖˆÉ”lōbəlist/Learn to pronouncenoun
  1. 1.a person who advocates the interpretation or planning of economic and foreign policy in relation to events and developments throughout the world.
adjective
  1. 1.relating to or advocating the operation or planning of economic and foreign policy on a global basis.

Pretty hard to not be one as defined these days. Maybe Kim Jong Un. Some aspire to be globalists but only if they get to call all the shots which can never happen. Sound familiar?
Take a gander at breitbart.com and you will see. If I have to come up with a label, Iā€™d call the "so many" "nationalists" those who think they are getting the shaft from everyone else, harbor great resentment, and have identified the scapegoats. Much like Germany after WWI.Ā Ā
So many seem to just want to blame their problems or shortcoming s on others. Itā€™s human nature I suppose. Whatever happened to people not blaming others, taking responsibility, solving their own problems and making it on their own? I guess that demographic is on the decline in the US these days. Probably due to the inflated standard of living many but far from all have achieved over the years. We all better learn to look out for rather than antagonizing each other sooner rather than later. Also to look out for our planet together as well may as well mention. Unfortunately we seem to be moving entirely in the wrong direction as more and more people fall by the wayside, unable to keep up on their own. At least many have cell phones and headphones capable of making pretty good sounding music these days.
Itā€™s only hifi and that is all.

It does concern me though whenever free speech gets arbitrarily suppressed just because it may upset some people. Never a good sign.
My post got deleted despite not violating any documented guidelines. Ā  Totally subjective.Ā
