Speakers to stands coupling

Has anyone found that using harder material (metal or wood) disks or cones between speakers and stands instead of Sorbothane pads or similar provides better transfer of vibrations from speakers to stands and results in sonic improvements?
I replaced Sorbothane pads with small wooden disks and was pleased with results, I can feel less vibration in speakers and more in stands, and bass is tighter.
I am thinking of trying aluminum or brass cones, not sure what I can expect and where to find them (do not want to spend a lot on this experiment).

Beside wooden disks, so far I tried brass disks, improvements are even more noticeable without some negative impact on midrange I noticed with wooden ones.
Next will be brass cones (spike down into stands).
It seems to me Sorbothane pads are really not that good in my case.
I discovered some time ago that significant weight on top makes noticeable improvements.
