Resonessence Mirus Pro DAC review

I am an owner of the Resonessence Mirus Pro DAC. It is one of the best Dacs I have ever heard. I sent my Mirus in to be upgraded by Mark Mallison of resonessence labs. I upgraded from the Mirus to the Mirus Pro. This Pro version plays bigger. The soundstage is a little deeper and the highs are a little more airy. This Dac is being used with my Gato FM6 speakers and my KR Audio VA 900 integrated amplifier. It has a great soundstage with nice layering. There are 8 different filters that you can use to slightly adjust the sound to your system. This Dac would be a great source in any system even the ultra high end systems. I have compared it to the PS Audio Directstream and the Brooklyn Dac and I preferred slightly over the Ps Audio with the Brooklyn coming up the rear. I have really enjoyed my Mirus Pro DAC. I actually use the SD card slot to play my music from so I don't have to be hooked up to a computer. The people at resonessence labs have hit a home run with this DAC and the upgrade. I have used it streaming TIDAL from USB and it still sounds great. I have really enjoyed this product and it will stay in my system a long time.

Great to know that they have great customer service. I have dealt with him as well and it was a great experience. I use it to stream tidal as well as play music from the sd cards that I have my cds transferred to. Great experience. The filters are also very helpful because of the differences in recordings you listen to.  Great DAC. Can't do better at even twice the price.

So far the Veritas is a fine DAC. My main use for it is for Red Book playback only, so far no streaming. I was looking for a DAC that sounded as good as my Esoteric CDP and I have not been disappointed. The sound is nice and clean. . .  its just scaled down from the Mirus Pro since the Veritas has only one DAC chip.

I have scrolled thru all the filters, at times, and prefer using no filter. It would be nice if RL provided information on the various filters and benefits of each filter.

Shortly after receiving this DAC, it stopped working. Once isolated I returned the DAC back to RL. This was a first class experience,  Mark was in contact throughout including following up afterwards.  The issue was a needed firmware update. After that, the Veritas has been flawless and is a long term hold.

Very nice write up on the Mirus DAC.

I have it's  little brother the "Veritas" which has a single  ESS9028PRO DAC chip, instead of the dual DAC chip in the Mirus Pro.
Extremely happy with my Mirus Pro. I was told by a reliable audiophile buddy of mine that he was impressed with the Resonessence Mirus Pro. He listens to a lot of gear and said that it sounded better than any other DAC he had heard that was under 12k. So far I agree and I'm very pleased with the bigger sound of the Mirus Pro along with blacker backgrounds and better musicality.
I heard the previous model at THE SHOW in L.A. playing directly into some 20 year amp. The amp was nothing fancy and was purposely chosen my  Resonessence to show how good the DAC was playing on a so-so amp. I loved the sound it was the best DAC I have heard so far. It is hard for me to tell the difference between DACs but this one had something about it that really brought a smile to my face.

My next DAC purchase (for living room system) must be able to drive amp(s) directly without an analogue preamp and it must also support HQPlayer at it highest resolution. I am also hoping for MQA but that is not a showstopper.

DACs  I am considering (depends on my $$$ too):

T+A DAC8 DSD
Resonessence Mirrus Pro
