Pure silver solid wire jumpers???

Hi
I got some pure silver wire 18 ga with teflon tubing, and I was wondering if I can make a pair of jumpers for my Taylo Reference Monitors to replace the usual gold plated ones. I use an Audioquest Pikes Peak single wire in the tweeter section.
I plan to connect the bare silver wire directly to the spekaer binding post.
Does anyone know if this can damage the speaker? and If it will sound better than the usual gold plated jumper?
Any advice will be great.
Thanks

shouldn't be a problem connecting the bare wire to the binding post as long as you maintain the correct polarity. + to + and - to -. as far as sound, some will say you'll hear a difference. some will say you won't. you already own the silver so give it a whirl and see for yourself.
That should cause absolutely no damage. I've seen dealers use paper clips before when nothing else was handy!
Try it and see if it sounds better?
Good luck.
Hi
I already made the jumpers. Solid pure silver wire. I connected the jumpers using just the bare wire and the results are very good. The bass has become tighter and I have more high extension. Also some harshness has appeared in the mid frequencies. Maybe the cable need some long break in. I will let you know how it goes.
Thanks

Alan,

I tried something similiar with your speakers when I owned a pair. I did not stick with the silver but Au24 as it gave the best performance with my setup.

Unfortunately, whatever jumpers you are using are still going to go through the Dh-Labs internal wire which your speakers are wired with.

Think about maybe having Ty re-wire them with something consistent to what you are using speaker cable and interconnect wise..

Good Luck..

Chris
Hi Chris,
Imposible to rewire Im overseas. At least I could do it locally with an electronic guy.
I will send an email to Ty telling him what to do.
Thanks
Alan
Alan,

Ty is very helpful and offers custom wire choices when you purchase the speakers new. Unfortunately, the Dh-Labs just did not gel with my set up. I attributed some of the harshness you have mentioned to the Dh-Labs. I just do not like Silver Plated Copper.

Good Luck!

Chris
