It denpends, in most case they are seperate. My SMEV and Linn akito arms have tonearm cables in the tube which end at the base of the arm nessesitating the need for a "Phono cable"...some arms, usually cheaper ones, have tonearm cables that begin at the cartridge end and end with a RCA to plug into your Preamp or phono stage input. SO to answer your question, YES...tonearm cable is usually the wire inside the arm tube and phono cable is the cable from the arm to the source input.
