paradigm studio 20 as center channel speaker

Hi agoners,
I have an extra studio 20 and am thinking of using it as a center channel speaker. Any problems with this? Why do we need a dedicated special designed center channel speaker?
Thanks for your response.

Actually, it is probably superior in its dispersion as a center channel speaker (and in its matching to the L/R) than so-called dedicated centers. I used one, for a while, as a center with a pair of Studio60s until I obtained a 3rd 60.

"I recall reading that the majority of center channel speakers have dispersion issues and using a virtual center would likely be better for on axis listeners." Other way 'round. The beaming and venetian-blind variation is a problem for off-axis listeners.

Could be the settings for the others. Could be position. Could be acoustics of the room. Did you use pink-noise and a sound level meter?

In front? Above, below or blocking the screen? I am trying to find out exactly how it is positioned and that includes room arrangement, furnishings, listening position, etc.
