musical fidelity trivista sacd player

Has anybody seen reviews, got comments on this expensive piece of machinery? Am considering SACD player and relinquishing my Sonic Frontiers

I believe it's the cover to this month's Stereophile, but I could have it confused with any other month.
It is a fine unit but I feel the sony scd-1 is better made and better all around. Look and listen you will see let your ears do the mind making up.
To Mgminc: Do you include the Sony SCD-777ES as being equal to the SCD 1? It uses the same transport, weighs the same, and seems to only lack the balanced outputs.
Actually Irishdog, the SCD-1 has potted transformers, supposedly better damping materials and don't forget the fifth foot for support. The machines are very similar outside of that. That being said, I did hear a difference when I auditioned the 2 machines and neither one was very well broken in. Since i bought my SCD-1, it has blossomed into quite a wonderful machine on Redbook and SACD is leaps and bounds better. Gary.
Agreed, SCD-1 kicks ass. I have seen and heard tri-vista. Overpriced and overhyped, IMHO. Sounds decent, but then again so does a lot of stuff. Build quality, although 'flashier' than SCD-1, is not as good physically. I do not care for the overdone MF styling. For the price, buy 2 SCD-1s, mod one and sell whichever you like less, probably for the same $ as you paid. Or, wait for the XA9000ES in October (new Sony Flagship SACD player). Supposedly tri-vista is expected to "sell out" this summer/fall, which basically means MF will attempt to limit the supply in some bizzare effort to increase the value(?) or desirability of it? Um, hello MF... You are not Ferrari....

I've owned them both. The Tri-Vista is still here, and several machines better than the SCD-1 have come and gone in the interim. Need I say more?
I am second with Thsalmon. I bought the Tri-Vista 3 months ago. This is amazing SACD/CD. It is sounded better if you use better PC such as Ultra-khan or Elrod signature 2.
Couldn't swing the Tr-Vista, but very happy with the A308 I picked up. I prefer it to SACDS played through S9000es on my system....makes me really want to hear a real SACD player, but just can't swing it now, Maybe later : )
I also pick it up about three months ago and it sounds very musical to me, way better than the Wadia it replaced. and yes it is on the cover of May 2003 Stereophile.
