Liguy, I know he played in Little Richard's band, and I think he played with Ike and Tina, but I don't know who he went to Puerto Rico with.
Jimmy Page played a 1958 telecaster on Led Zeppelin I. For MOST of Layla, Clapton cranked up a tiny Fender Champ to the point of distortion.
I didn't think Clapton played with a Pignose until the 461 Ocean Boulevard album (listen to Motherless Children, as a great example of a Pignose).
It's a little "drier" sounding to me than a Champ, which has a strong "tube" distortion. Of course, I could be wrong.

BTW, Page of course picked up the les paul in the studio on II and III, but didn't necessarily always record with it after that (much of Presence was with a Strat, for example).

Interesting fact: don't know who the children were on Houses of the Holy, but there were actually only 2 them photographed several times!
Oh man, Garfish, isn't that one of the greats, Ry Cooder? Speaking of a Pignose! I love that sound on the Crossroads soundtrack.
Only thing I remember about that was the song "I can Dream About You", with Dan Hartman, off that soundtrack.
Hint on the XTC question; isn't it the same name as one of Steve Earle's backing bands?

Two more Beatles trivia questions: (1) Name the first Beatles song to "feature" a musician other than John, Paul, George, and Ringo; (2) Name a Beatles song that featured none of the fab four playing instruments; and (3) name the other one (at least that I can recall).
Here's one: What was the original name for the song that later become the Beatles' "Yesterday"?
Blbloom, I know the answer to this one, but am not guessing. I would hate to hog this thread, so I wrote the answer out, and am now whiting it out with an office product.
RCPrince, you are correct, Ravi Shankar did not play sitar on WYWY, that was George. There was another debate earlier on here about just who did play on While My Guitar Gently Weeps, but I'm pretty sure that was Clapton (it sounds like Clapton to me, and Clapton is listed on the credits, so I'd conclude it was Clapton). Further, Harrison did play on Badge -- Do you remember what his pseudonym was?

However, Clapton was not the first "guest" instrumentalist on a Beatles song.
Keep looking, reprince, that should "Help"!

I'll take a guess on Charlie Parker, how about the Euphonium
Sorry I've been away, been recovering from a concussion! Yes, Yesterday started out as "Scrambled Eggs", that's correct. RCprince, there may be something earlier, but the song "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" had the flautist by the name of John Scott.
BTW, another interesting tidbit about Stewart Copeland: What was his father's occupation?
SRV played on Lets Dance (1981), but not the tour due to a contract dispute just before the first tour date. Instead of playing on the Lets Dance tour, SRV went to the studio and recorded Texas Flood.
Liguy, I know he played in Little Richard's band, and I think he played with Ike and Tina, but I don't know who he went to Puerto Rico with.
With regard to SRV, here are my guesses:
1. Bowie wanted SRV to drop playing with Double Trouble and play with him exclusively.
2. Sounds like Albert King to me.
3. I have no idea
4. Rocky IV
5. Jackson Browne picked up the tab on SRV's studio time.
I thought that might be the answer, but was afraid to hazard a guess. I seem to recall that John Anderson did that on his version of "When it Comes to You", the Dire Straits tune that Mark Knopfler played on for him on that album.
