Manley 300B preamp

Need tube upgrade advice.  The EMLs look like very good candidates for the 300s.  Please walk me through each tube type preference.  I'm NOT looking for a lush syrupy sound.  I run Mahi mono-blocks with EL 84s which are fast, articulate and detail well.  So I'm looking for preamp tubes that keep up.
