for acoustic treatment try www.tubetrap.com (ASC). I can't recommend these products too highly. dollar-for-dollar, they're the best investment you can make to improve the quality of sound in your listening enviroment.. BTW, as i recall, the website has some photos of installations. another hint: stick with natural fibers (wool, cotton, etc.) for carpet/rugs, drapes and furniture fabric. it really does make a difference in refection/absorbtion.
We need more details, like what kind of gear you have, or plan to have. Stereophile Guide to Home theater, and Home Theater magazine both have excellent sections every month on your topic. Get as many back issues as possible, and start reading. What is you budget? With any size budget, you must proritize, prioritize. On a small budget, carpet and curtains, combined with very careful speaker placement can go a very long way.
