High Fidelity Cables CT-1designed by Rick Schultz

In December 2011,I wrote that High Fidelity cables led by cable designer Rick Schultz was putting together a new cable. The cable came to market as CT-1.The CT-1 has FINALLY made it into my system!I had obtained a version of the prototype that Rick had been working on.It blew my previous reference Genesis by Virtual Dynamics.I thought I had finally found my end with this cable. This prototype delivered to my ears "Nirvana".Could I be at the end of my quest for the ultimate sound?
No. I received two pairs of CT-1 to replace my prototypes. They went into the system this past Friday.Unable to dedicate time until Sunday listening,I stole a few moments, ducking away from company with anticipation. My guest could tell even with the music set for"ambiance"something was intriguing and I was in for a treat!
The experience:
First off,CT-1 was very user friendly.Installation was simple;the cable is very nice and light. The female RCA fit beautifully unlike any I had found in other cable. It was secure and reliable. It seemed much thought was dedicated to developing a designer fit to an aesthetically stunning RCA connector.Install entailed a few wiggles to ensure what seemed like a compression fit on my RCA.
It was 2-3 hrs. for the 1st step of break in to be complete. At that point I had something different!Today, although they only have 10-12 hrs. on them,I can`t put into words how much my system has transformed.Believe me,I loved my prototypes.However....there is simply no comparision.
The clarity and sound is so natural.
The soundstage is like nothing I ever heard.Resoulution is breathtaking and inner detail is simply hard to believe possible.
The sound has transended and now it simply does not seem as thought I have speakers.
My system is musicians playing music.
I am told with time they will improve and I trust that as it was revealed with the prototypes.I wanted to share my thoughts with you that now.
Unequivocally,a testament to High Fidelity,as the name declares.
High Fidelity Cables for me,the last word on it,after 12 hours!
Truly Amazing

@Ddraught@audiolabyrinth. I heard the invicta dac it sounds great. Never thought I could enjoy a dac sound that much
Demoing a full loom of ct1 right now. Clear quick and open. Great with my vienna acoustics. These are great.
I am. They are great. I'm using my classe cp800 and once I calibrate my system and place my speakers properly It will sound even better.
The high fidelity did sound really good in the system I heard them in. They sounded natural and never bright. Great sonics. The audio system I heard them in was set up well and it had great synergy.
@i believe. I have owned MIT. I have owned Nordost TYR. I have owned clarus crimson. I have tried a buch of different audioquest cables. I have tried the KCI silkworms. The HF cables are bell clear. They are also have great speed, pace and seperation. They are real good. They dont have any glaring weaknesses. Maybe they could be a little bit fuller but it also could depend on your electronics. I've tried probabably 15 different cable and i would say these are in the top 2 or three so far and in a lot of areas like clarity pace and seperation they are the best i've heard so far.
@tbg I will be adding a dac soon. I'm just doing research on them now. Looking forward to your observations of your sound soon.
@ everyone. Try the cables yourself. Different strokes for different folks. I see a lot of people impressed with them and not complaining. I am impressed. I have one ct1 interconnect. I have an ultimate interconnect and the enhanced speaker cables. They do a pretty good job. Try them. Maybe you like them. Maybe not. It's up to your gear and your tastes.
@ everyone. Remember things are system dependent a lot of the times. Some things will match and others won't. For example, the hi fidelity ct1 cables and eric love romance cables are both great cables but it depends on what kind of system you put them in. They will work depending on your system.

If high fidelity ct-1 comes out with balanced xlr I'm all in. The RCA are still great I can only imagine how the balanced would sound. The technology rick uses is tight, clean, fast and clear without being bright.
No trouble being caused. We are on topic. Comparisons are allowed and it is always good to compare the ct1 to other cables. Come on really?
@Ddraught. I agree with 100%. Good and refreshing to meet manufactures and people in this hobby with great attitudes and commitment to the music and that have great respect for consumers but more importantly just because they are people.
I had the pleasure of demoing the high fidelity ct1 enhanced speaker cables and ultimate interconnects. The are clear, they have great prat and the give instruments great timbre. Love, these when listening to very quick jazz quartets. I think they are some of the better interconnects I have ever heard. They are worth the asking price because they get the job done. I have also listened to the tara labs 2 EX interconnects. They are great as well they very open and detailed. Life like. The prat on the ct1 is a little better. It is a matter of taste. The openness of the tara labs is ear attracting. They are both great cable makers. I think Rick Schultz is a great guy with a great product and technology in the ct1. I met him at the Lone star audiofest last year and he was raving about his cables and technology. At first, it was all over my head until I heard his cables and I was really wowed by them. I was able to have a in home long demo with them and I was very happy with the performance. They provide speed and clarity. Rick also was confident enough in his product to let me demo his cables and that is what separates him from a lot of others in this business. Great product and based on the sound and the quality I would recommend them to anyone looking for a great cable.
I have also done a demo of the tara labs 2EX with ism on board. They mated well with my vienna acoustics beethoven baby grand se I have. The ct1 mated better with the sonus faber liutos. Different cables work with different speakers. I would love to listen high fidelity cables new ultimate reference cables. I have heard that they are really good. I don't work for either company. I just love the things that both do. I want to also listen to the higher level tara labs. I was really impressed with the 2ex. I must admit though when you have a good person like Rick Schultz making a great cable like the ct1 line then you have hope for high end audio.
In closing, I think it is system dependent which ones you go with and the things you like in sound qualities in your system. Tara labs are a little more open and the ct1 have better prat. Just in case you ask. Yes I like and have listened to both extensively. This is my comparison review of the ct1 and the tara labs 2 ex with ism on board. As usual it just depends on all the other equipment and qualities you have and like in your audio system. Happy listening everyone. @everyone I'm talking to everyone lol.
@Charles1dad. I agree. The ct1 really deliver performance wise and it good to know how they compare to other cables people have owned. I like them better than some cables I bought that were bigger names and more expensive. It's good to know that there are other owners of this great brand and I also like to see what other brand owners are saying in comparison. Speakers, amps, preamps are going to always be in the mix. I just know that when you get the high fidelity ct1 cables that they deliver performance wise. I bought some bigger names that I can't say the same thing about. I can't wait to hear the ultimate reference.
@jmacgrogan that is true. Audiolabrytinth is king Tara labs. Lol.
@ Calloway. You are right. Each time you go up the chain with high fidelity ct1. They do get better. I have personally witnessed it. The other thing is these cables have great speed. Jazz quartet music with multiple cymbal and drum taps are amazing.
@audiolabryinth. I am enjoying the cymbal decays on the tara labs 2ex air great. The trail away in the air like water vapor. I like the Decays in my music that way.
@everyone. We are so sensitive about our audio and what cables we choose to use. I just enjoy the fact that I found brands that have delivered for me sound wise. I hope high fidelity keeps up the good work but if another brand does it for you then good for you. We all have different equipment and music preferences. All I know is I hear good things when I listen to the high fidelity ct 1 and I will compare it to everything I have and listen to in the future and will write about it here. Sometimes we want exclusivity to cover up for other things. I hope more people listen to the cables and read this thread.
@Ddraught hey I believe you I'm going to be planning out my last system down the line and high fidelity is a cable that I trust to deliver great sound. I now have a system that mid fi classe ,smaller Viennas and a parasound cd1. Maybe in a year or 2 I will be able to go up to the vienna imperial grand and get an EAR 868 pre and an EAR 890 tube amp and try those higher level ct1 cables on it. I have tried nordost, mit, audioquest, wireworld, fusion audio, cardas, vovox, atlas, kimber. The cables I have liked the most are high fidelity ct1 and the tara labs that I have now. These are two cables that have delivered. The ct1 wowed me the first time I heard them. The tara labs sound good as well but in a different way.
@Ddraught I might be changing my pre amp and im gonna try the Ct1 in that set up. Im not sure yet but i think the qualities of the ct1 will work in that set up. I will be looking into it. The ct1 seed and clarity may be welcome in the set if I change that pre amp. I have a classe cp800 currently but I may have to get something better.
@mcondon. You have to try more than a digital cable to get a true sense of what they do
@jafox. We all or audio crazy. Don't diagnose everybody else and forget to look in the mirror. Lol. See I admit that I'm audio crazy we all are.
Hey I understand your approach to your system. Some time the the big companies mass produce to a price point and forget the music. Plus there are additional factors that have to be considered when putting together a system and it's components. Its like you can buy a can of stew at the store or you can have grandma cook it just like you like it.
@ Ddraught. Sorry for the typos. I enter all of this on the iPad. It changes things on its own. Sometimes big companies build to a price point instead of making the best product for music. I would love to hear a system like that.
Heard a system today with all high fidelity ultimate reference and the new high fidelity power cords it was extremely pleasant and pleasing. These cables are fast and distortion free. It was a wonderful sound. Very open and at the same time natural and musical. Rick Schultz has a real winner in this cable.
@tbg and Ddraught. This is next level audio talk. This is exactly where I want to be. Very seldom will A company make something and not worry about cost and them price it later. Also, you have to be lucky to have a team of people all think the same way about getting it to be the best. The best purchase i made was my pioneer kuro television it still is getting it done 6 years later. I think the best audio will come from this approach that u guys use as opposed to a giant company bought up by a venture capitalist who doesn't give a damn about the music.
@audiolabryinth. I know you like tara labs and they are good but rick stands behind his products. He has demo cables for plenty of guys because he believes in his product and they work. I heard a system yesterday with all high fidelity cables installed and an integrated amplifier. It was amazing. I have met many folks in high end audio who don't do that. They are so snooty that they won't even talk to you. He is breath of fresh air in this industry. He loves the music and wants customers to be happy. It's not about what cables or company is better. Whatever the situation this is it will work out. It's one cable and one problem. Let's not try to make it more than it is. @ the guys who let me hear their systems. Thank you. High fidelity makes great products and they sounded great in systems that were totally different. I appreciate you guys letting me demo in person the high fidelity products and the rest of your systems. I've heard and experienced the difference those cables make. Congrats on the new ultimate reference series. Are they expensive? Yes. But they sound great!!!
@audiogon. Took my thread down. When I said something bad about a product that didn't work and bad service you took the thread completely out and when I find products that are good and a company that gives good service and say it then you take the thread down. Wowww I'm confused.
@petieboy12003. I totally agree. I come here to see what's good. I found a great cable and better service and now they just took my thread. Wow. A thread was deleted last year because a company gave two of us bad service and the equipment went bad and we got spanked for it lol. OZ really showed us not behave. I got tired of trying cables that didn't work and companies who laugh at me after they sell it to me. I'm going to let people know what's good or what's bad. If I get good service I'm letting you know. If a companies gives bad service. I will let you know. But I guess a better be careful would want to make a big tube advertiser mad and get muted again. We are just sharing what we know. Wow. Please don't put me on punishment audiogon. I will be a good boy. Lol.
@audiogon. Took my thread down. When I said something bad about a product that didn't work and bad service you took the thread completely out and when I find products that are good and a company that gives good service and say it then you take the thread down. Wowww I'm confused.
@Ddraught. @audiolabryith. Cables are components at this level. I put that ultimate reference power cord in and bam. A big piano appeared in my room. I was listening to an album called Saturday Morning by Ahmad Jamal. The great jazz piano player. It is one of the best albums I have heard this year. The piano, drums, cymbals drove me as close to audio nirvana as I have ever been. Ddraught try this album. I think you would like it. These high fidelity cables are next level. The speed in the magnets is taking my jazz to another level.
@Ddraught @Calloway@audiolabyrinth. I put the High Fidelity Ultimate Reference power cord today and all I got to say is wowwwwww. I put it on my amplifier I only have a classe ca2200 and it opened it completely up. It was a very musically natural sound. It just flat out improved everything. It took the piano and put it in my room for real. I can hear the inside of the drums. I can hear every cymbal tap and decay. Cymbals trail off like vapor now. It's layered properly. It's just musically fast in a good way. It single handily improved my PRAT. The pace is just amazing I was listening to the Christian Mcbride Trio and it was just amazing how sounded. It gives all of the bass playing of Mcbride with the speed and timbre of the instrument which is not easy to do. Everything now has more air around it. Spacing between instruments is done properly as well. It is a natural coming together. I know. All of this from a power cord? I couldn't believe it myself. Rick said to me that this power cord will make the difference of a component change. He was right. I know that my amp only retails for about $6000 but this power cord gets every single bit of performance out of it and adds to the rest of the system. Today I got the best sound I have ever had after inserting the High Fidelity Ultimate Reference Power Cable. Highly recommended. It is seldom when I can say I heard the best item in a equipment area I have ever heard. Today is one of those days.
@Ddraught. @Audiolybarinth. It does seem crazy but it is audio nirvana. It's like getting to OZ at the beginning of the movie. You just hear a clarity and natural sound coming from your instruments that you never heard in your system with the ultimate reference power cords. One more thing is the speed. I was listening to the percussionist Kendrick Scott Oracle. His album Conviction was a Grammy nominated Jazz album. The speed of the cymbals and drums are unmatched by any other cable I have heard. It is the speed of the magnets in the technology that make them faster than all the other cables. I heard a 9tap cymbal that I never heard before. I heard all 9 taps with proper decay. The backgrounds are so quiet on one of my Christian Mcbride albums when it is quiet you can hear him breathe. This cable is a winner
I played it from the cd. Ahmad Jamal is a legend. He probably is old school and records well. The original recording is so important the album is Saturday Morning. It is perfect for my Saturday morning listening sessions. Lol.
@Ddraught. Did you try ahmad Jamal. Saturday morning cd. When you get that high fidelity power cord. Give us your review.
@audiolabryinth. You are right I haven't heard the better tara labs. High Fidelity stuff in my system right now just has me on an audio high. I can trust it because I know it works in my system. I don't doubt the tara labs are great. I just know what I'm hearing now and it's amazing. I have heard this stuff in a total of about 8 or 9 systems with different components in different set ups and it delivered every single time. I guess that's why I respect it so much. Nothing against tara labs or other cables. I just know what im hearing right now is faster and more natural than anything I have ever heard.
@Ddraudt I will be trying the full high fidelity ultimate reference loom by the weekend. I will try to break them in. I'm excited. The clarity and naturalness and speed of the power cord alone was amazing. I will add the cables in and go through my paces. Im excited because even though I have listened to a number of different cables this technology is really different. Will report back soon. Heard some Coltrane on a high fidelity setup and I was blown away.
@Ddraudt I have been burning them in I'm up to a interconnect and 2 ultimate reference power cords. They are opening up and they are sounding glorious. The more they burn in the better. I was a little worried at first but it seems the more that I play them and the more high fidelity ultimate reference I add the better it sounds. The realism is getting better and better. The pianos are to die for. The prat is unreal. The speed of the cable is of the charts in a good way. On drums and cymbals is where the speed and prat shows out on faster jazz tunes. I just put a cd in by a soul singer named kem. He tours with Sade and opens for her. Very soulful voice and great band. Voice is realistic. Great midrange. His band uses a lot of instruments and has smooth rhythm. The high fidelity ultimate reference shines in these regards. They use some wood winds in the background. The ultimate reference gets it right. I will continue to burn these in and add more. Will report on this again in a week or so. @audiolabrynth. I know you are on the tara labs. I just know that the high fidelity ultimate reference is killing all the other cables I have owned or demoed.
@audiolabryinth. I welcome all views of other cables that compare. I'm glad you give us your opinion as well as comparisons to the high fidelity. I'm sold on the effect that it had on my system. I think high fidelity has some cutting edge technology and performance. However, you are welcome to tell us about other impressions of cables. You really should try the high fidelity and compare them with the tara labs.
@everyone. I have listened to the High Fidelity best cables and they are in my opinion very special. Cutting edge because of how many different cables I have listened to. I will talk to anyone on the threads. I welcome all suggestions of cables that compare. I am so impressed with high fidelity ultimate reference. It is currently in my system on demo right now. I have to admire a cable company that is confident to know that if you put it in you are hooked and you won't want to take them out!!! They are that good. @ u know who. I might be blind but I will be happy as long as my hearing doesn't go. Lol. I want this audio bliss to continue. Lol. @audiolabryinth. I listen to post and I read and comment sometimes. I think you shouldn't care what people say. I think you should save your ears for the music. Try some of this High Fidelity ultimate reference and you will never be the same. I'm happy with my sound. I will talk to anyone and everyone on the thread. We get it. Tara labs does it for you. I wish you could try this High fidelity ultimate reference stuff. Just flat out naturally good. I have heard audio systems that retail at more than 200,000 bucks. I love this hobby and I love when a product does something special. This cable does that. I also understand that we have our preferences and we spend a lot of time in this hobby comparing things. Continue you to be who you are and talk to who you want where you want. Talk about what you want. @tbg and Ddraudt. The high fidelity power cords caused a big jump in performance on my amplifier. Has that been your experience?
@ tbg @ Ddraught. What tube amps have you liked in your systems? Have you used the high fidelity ultimate reference on them?
@tbg@Ddraught. I put the high fidelity ultimate reference full loom with one power cord. I'm using the veloce pre amp and amp and is flat out a glorious sound. @audiolabryinth. I had to to use one balance tara labs on the veloce amp lol. @tbg @Ddraught. What is the break in time on the speaker cables. The speaker cables just went in tonight and I am like wow. Rick really did it with this stuff. The speed and naturalness is off the chain. The drum work is flat out mind blowing. The response on multiple drum hits is unlike anything I have ever heard. The decay of cymbals is like floating mist. The soundstage is deep and wide. His cables are just different from the rest. Genius!!!!!!
@DDraught. I totally understand I finally put the high fidelity ultimate reference speaker cables in last night with the veloce amps and pre and with high fidelity ultimate reference power cord. It was mind blowing. I listened to music for about 4 hours straight today. It was special. I think these cables work with speakers at any level.
@chris_launder. I understand how you feel but when you try as many cables as I have and you find something like this that knocks you off your feet. I spent so much money and time searching for something different and that can give the music in spades. I'm listening to the veloce pre amp and amps with high fidelity ultimate reference cabling and I just had the best listening session I've had in my life to this point. If they were not good I would just say so. They are on now with the brad mehldau trio and it's a lot of fast drum work piano and complex jazz rythyms and this system is delivering in spades. I'm excited about what's coming out the speakers. As audiophiles it's exciting to enjoy getting to the mythical audio nirvana. I believe I got there today. I know people may say that I am a cheerleader for these cables but they frickin get the job done. You should try them. I spent so much time and money in this hobby. I have never had something deliver this well. Transparency, detail, weight, speed, soundstage. All check marks. I understand how someone could say yeah right but I'm here and really about what I'm hearing. Thanks to the veloce amps and pre and the high fidelity cables ultimate reference series. @Ddraudt. I understand how you feel. I'm in a serious jam session as I write this post. This is amazing. The ultimate reference gave the music more weight than in the past without losing transparency or detail. @audiolabryinth. I had to use one balanced interconnect so I'm using tara labs the one and it is doing real well in my system. The demo system is veloce pre amp veloce amps. Speakers are vienna acoustics beethoven baby grand se. High fidelity ultimate reference speaker cables. 1 High fidelity ultimate reference interconnect. 1. Tara labs balanced the one interconnect. Parasound cd1 CD player. I'm in a happy place musically right now. There is a whole band in my living room right now!!!
@Ddraudt. I have been running my system non stop over the weekend and I ran it all day today. I think high fidelity ultimate reference is improving with the burn in. I think the patience of letting them run pays off. I let my wife listen to my system today. She said it was the best I got it so far. Believe me I have tried a lot of stuff. Look at my threads and posts. This edition of the high fidelity ultimate reference has really got me hooked. The speaker cables made a huge difference. The power cord was great as well but the speaker cables had me where I could not sit still today. The pianos where right on point today. When the musicians were rolling the keys it was fast and precise. That is very hard for a cable to do. It did so in a very natural way that was musical. I have had 5 different loudspeakers. 5 different pre amps and about more than 20 different brands of cables and ic' s powercords etc. I have system chased for the last 6 years and today was really satisfying. I have spent countless amounts of green trying to get what I heard today. I understand now when fellow audiophiles feel like they are being jacked around on cables and equipment. However, today my room was filled with organic yet detailed natural musical sound. I'm very happy to have had this experience today. The high fidelity ultimate reference cables with the veloce amp and pre was a game changer for me.
@Ddraught. The veloce amp and pre amp stuff is dc battery powered so It does not have any dirty power going to it. Also, I guess with the high fidelity stuff along with it the backgrounds are dead quiet. The sound literally comes out of nowhere.
