Hendrix: Live Berk., CA 2nd show

Well folks took the plunge and picked up this live disc...first the good news...sonics are first rate for a live show of this lineage(and very good even in modern terms)...equal or surpassing the legendary Band of G. FIllmore shows...the opener Pass it on is a cool, carefree blues jam in the best sense(although AMG described it as "very loose")...and makes for an exciting introduction even though it isnt razor tight...however the 2nd track....good in its own right...is kinda of a mellow let down after the opening scortcher...and things kind of meander until "Machine GUn" which heats up nicely...Stone Free doesnt have the punch or attack as the studio original...all in all...live hendrix has always been an "iffy" proposition...and this show does nothing to defute that myth...but the playing...althought not stellar...is very enjoyable...and the sound is far superior to Woodstock, Isle, Rainbow,etc...
