Hegel Integrateds Quality

Hi all,

I read in another thread people questioning the originality and build quality of the new Hegel Mohican CD player - the theory is that it is a rebranded Consonance cd player.

I’m wondering, does this scepticism extend to their integrateds? In terms of quality and ability to last?  I’m interested in a used H80 or H160 and I’m wondering if it a good investment.

Thanks

My buddy had one and I auditioned it with his Martin Logan ESL EFXs.  Not enough power for them IMO, but an OK integrated.  I was not all that impressed with the switchgear, but that may have just been my sense of touch.  I do know it was very sensitive to RFI and the H300 he replaced it with in the exact same location isn't.

On origin, there's a whole thread here on it you can search for.  I surmised they are designed in Scandinavia and made in China, but no one ever came up with a definitive answer.

Good luck & happy listening!
