Has anyone tried an Audioquest DAC between CD Player & PreAmp?

Question above.

I have a unused Audioquest Dragonfly Black and want to try it between my CD player & PreAmp. Do you think it will help sound quality? Anyone ever tried it?
That really depends on the CD player for sound quality and how old it is and what type of DAC is in it, amongst other things. Little more information would be nice here like what CD player and can your system resolve the differences.

does your CD player have USB out? as your black only takes USB in for signals. also your CD player will have to have the plug and play standard UPnP or your DAC will not see it. Well my thoughts anyway.

DID you try it?

Hi Glenne: thanks for the comeback. I think you & I have connected B4. I use an Audioquest Dragonfly Red between my laptop and preamp. I think it sounds great. I replaced the Black with the Red, so I have been wondering if I could the Black for something. My CD plAyeris an Arcam DVD Player DV-139. It does not have a usb output, only rca outputs. I wondered if a rca/usb converter would work then I could use the Dragonfly Black output to rca into the preamp. Sounds weird I know, just wondered!
