I have no experience with the Goldmund unit. The Linn Unidisk 1.1 is owned by a good friend, and we listen at his place quite a bit. His Linn is having severe and increasing problems. It is gotten so bad that it will no longer recognize SACD's. It reads "no disk", and spits them out! The player also skips tracks, goes silent for several seconds, gives out ticks etc., etc. etc.!!! I would stay away from the Linn until they are able to offer the promised fix for these problems. They say it is coming, but much to our frustration, it is not here yet!
Experience w/ Linn Unidisk 1.1 or Goldmund 18D?
I'm looking to get a high-end universal player and am considering both the Linn and Goldmund units. Has anyone had experience with either of these or auditioned them? I currently own the Goldmund 21+ DAC and am willing to run redbook format through it so I'm really looking for the other formats to be exceptional.
