I’ll start by sharing the 3 best Blurays with atmos mixes I’ve heard so far. Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and Animals along with Dire Straits’ Brothers in Arms are the 3 best mixes I’ve heard so far.
I have yet to hear a horrid sounding atmos mix...the software itself can help the mastering engr to not be a blooming idiot, but, can name hundreds of horrid stereo mixes. If you feel like dancin/being in a rave....get the Tiesto - Elements of Life Bluray and crank it up. It has a 5.1 DTS mix which you can pull up into neural X or a 7.1.4 auro mix, done by Darcy Proper (Grammy winner, she's good). Here's a youtube sample from that album. You could upmix it and compare it back with her mix perhaps to get an idea. https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=rIpTPoOM26Q&si=bJ7ZojrKO1dlSls0 Almost any Steven Wilson atmos album is good, if you like prog rock. Peter Gabriel's I/O album came out more recently with an atmos mix, worth listening to.. Tori Amos - Unrepentant Geralidines atmos bluray is good.. etc...etc Get on apple music, there are thousands of tracks on there. Quadrophonicquad is an entire forum for surround/atmos music enthusisasts and plenty of discussions on this topic over there.
