Do I really need to replace avr with an av processor?

I want better sound for stereo listening.  HT sound is fine and standards here can be abit lower for most, and my current marantz avr seems to do a great job with HT sounds, along with great speakers and a great amp.
I wonder if I simply buy a quality dac and funnel all my streaming through the analog inputs on my avr.  Wouldn’t this give me a sound that isn’t tarnished by all the avr components which I hope mostLy are being bypassed since I am using the dac.

seems I just saved thousands and can be happy in both stereo and HT worlds.

The best solution for a mixed use system is to buy a stereo integrated amp with HT bypass feature, that way you can plug your 2 channel source (DAC or phono) in one input, and plug your AVR into another input, both will funnel sound to your front speakers depending on which source you select.
