Desktop Dynaudio system

Hello Audiogoners!

Long time lurker, first time poster... Thanks for all the wonderful discussions. It’s great to not only be appreciating music again, but really liking music as well.

I’ve been playing around with my entry level setups in the rooms I listen to. It is cool noting the effects of room acoustics, speaker position, and component pairings with various combinations.

But I have not found a way to really get my Dynaudio Excite X14s to sing. Just before consigning myself to perhaps selling them, I tried them on my desk. Which is reasonably big, leaving the speakers about 4 feet apart and 4 feet away from me. Source was my AK Kann to a Feliks Echo Headphone amp as a pre to a Cambridge CXA61 integrated. But oh boy! Listend for almost 2 hours. Never felt so immersed in the sound.

So now I’m looking for an amp to sit on my desk and help to work this magic. I initially envisioned small integrateds like the NAD D3020 or the Wyred 4 Sound mINT. But given that perhaps I do not need all the things these devices pack together, a small amp, like the Dayens Ampino might work best.

Any thoughts would be, as always very appreciated! Budget $1000

Wound up going with the Dayens Ampino.  I now feel like the music somehow surrounds me.  I have the joy!
