CJ Premier 11a to lp70S lp140m

Had the 11A forever.  Just swapped in a lp70s.  Heard great things about the amp.  My system is kind of optimized for imaging.  I have the old Virgo's in a near field setup and two Rel subs.  The 11A presents a deep and layered image from the speaker plane to wayyyy back.  Very holographic.  Not so much with the lp70s.  I put the "winged C" tubes in the LP70S (from the 11A) and this made little difference. LP70s sounds and looks solid.  Anybody have a similar experience?  Should I just keep the 11A for a few more decades?!
