Changing the bases of your PSB Stratus Gold's?

Has anyone changes/eliminated the dated-looking bases on your PSB Stratus Gold speakers? (Original-not the newer "I" version)

If so, would you mind sharing what you did and any problems you ran into? Pics sent to me would be appreciated too!
