Beginner needs help

Does anyone have any experience or opinions regarding the Def Tech's BP7002. The reviews have been outstanding but I don't hear a lot of discusion/recomodation going on. I was impressed with the 7004 and very impressed with the 7001. I have not heard the 7002 but I feel it a good comprimise between price and size. I can't help but feel I am missing something. Thanks in advance for your help.

I would say 99 out of 100 audiophiles feel like they are missing something. That is why they buy and sell so much equipment. If you have the time, I suggest you visit 4 or 5 hi end stereo shops and listen to what they consider the best sounding stuff. Remember expensive does not always = good sound. Perhaps try fine examples of the various design philosophies. I happen to like the bi-polar radiating Def Tech's very much but find others more satisfying. Some suggestions:

1. Planar magnetic- Magnepan
2. Electrostatic planar- Quad, Soundlab, Martin Logan
3. Omnidirectional- MBL, German Physiks, Shahinian
4. Box- Meadowlark, Wilson Audio, B&W and many others
5. High efficiency horns or single drivers- Lowther, Klipsch, Avante Garde sp
