Amp for Platinum Audio Trio's

Getting some Platinum Trio's from one of the founders of the company. Looking for an amp to pair.

Looks like Platinum used the MESA Boogie BARON amp at CES and won an award. Anyone have experience with these speakers and have any knowledge as to what amps pair well?

Hey @dhite71
Apologies for the late reply! It’s been 4 years since I posted this... so there’s been A LOT of experimenting. I still indeed have the speakers, and they are not going anywhere. They’re special, so hold on to them :)

Btw, you’d probably really like the Sopra No. 2, but google that ridiculous price tag. I know you got probably got your Quattros at a steal.
My favorite amps have been from Plinius. The SA-103 is a dark amp and it worked well for my
tastes. The tweeter is very prominent with Platinum speakers, so you need an amp that is dark and drives these hungry bastards. Mono SA-103 would be the ultimate, but I never quite got there when I owned one; the bass is phenomenal. Surprisingly for my Trios (and granted the room is not that large), I’ve been rocking the new Yamaha AS1200... and it sounds wicked great! I’d imagine the higher end Yamaha units are even better.

I’ve also tried Primaluna, Bryston, Luxman, Parasound. The Luxman Amps and Primaluna mono blocks were better out if the bunch.
Hello there...just curious what you found worked well with your Platinums.  I have been listening to the Quattros for about 15 years.  I went through a few solid state amp setups:

B&K 200.2 S2
Parasound HCA 2200ii
Parasound HCA 2200ii X 2 running bridged to mono
Parasound HCA 3500

I was always very curious about tubes and took a leap of faith and without any research of the model bought a pair of Audio Research Classic 120s about 3 years ago.  I kept the Parasound 2200 and went back many times and always just smiled when I hooked up the ARC again.

I tried the Focal 1038Be(latest model) and was not impressed at all.  Their bass was inferior to the Platinums and the Be tweeter was a bit too bright for me.

I now have a pair of Wilson Audio Sophia 1 that have really impressed me.  They are better than the Platinums but not by as much as you would think.  They don't need a sub where I did like my Hsu Research TN1225s crossed over low with the Platinums.
