Anyone hear both Parasound JC-2 and Pass XP10?
Based on my memory, I think the JC 2 is generally on par with the XP-20 and it probably has better bass (especially the lowest octave or two).My buddy who lives a few miles from me still has his XP-20, so if I decide to buy the JC 2, I can ask him...
Anyone hear both Parasound JC-2 and Pass XP10?
Tony,I have to say that this is one good preamp! The reviews out there are pretty much spot on in terms of the JC 2's strengths:- powerful bottom end- black background- great sound staging and imaging- clear and detailed mid-range- well balancedCo...
Upgrading from Wilson Sophia 2's?
Just buy the next pair of used 5A's and be done with it! :-)Don't you wish that I had sold you mine and not decided to keep them??I am not so sure that Madfloyd needs to replace the Sophia 2's - he might just need to find some good tube amplificat...
pass labs xa30.5 vs aleph 3
FWIW, I own Atma-Sphere MA-1 amps and recently have borrowed my friend's Pass XA30.5 amp to see how it compares sonically. From a heat perspective, there is absolutely no contest in which produces more heat - the MA-1's produce WAY MORE heat!! The ...
Wyred 4 Sound STP
I had a chance to hear the SE version in my system against a Plinius M8 and Parasound JC 2, as well as a non-SE version in a different system compared to a Modwright 2 box, Audio Valve Eclipse, and Esoteric C-03.In both scenarios, the STP preamp d...
Improvements when using a decidated PreProc
Most likely not.Personally, I would save your money or put it elsewhere (like better speakers). The improvement you received by adding an external amp is because on receivers, the vendors cut corners and/or limit things on the amp end. After all, t...
Anyone hear both Parasound JC-2 and Pass XP10?
Tony,Have forgotten you, work has just been very busy and I haven't yet listened to the JC2.It might not happen till July.George
Anyone hear both Parasound JC-2 and Pass XP10?
I just listened to an XP-20 for a few days in my system and should have a JC-2 to listen to in early June. I will try to post some thoughts.FWIW, the XP-20 was extremely clean with a very black background. I thought it was well balanced and really...

Sophia II's and Pass Labs etc
Assuming the XA 100.5's behave in the same manner as the recently reviewed and measured XA 30.5's, I think it is fair to say that the amps have a lot more power in A/B.In the Stereophile measurements section, it achieved its power rating of 30 wat...
CJ 18LS VS Plinius M8
I haven't compared the two but I do own the Plinius M8. It is a very musical preamp that provides very good detail, without sounding gritty or harsh. While it is ss and not tubed, I find its sound to be very liquid and organic - certainly not typi...
PC for a Running Springs Haley
BTW, I have tried the Mongoose power cord, as well as the Golden, on my Haley and preferred the cords I listed above.George

Emerald Physics C2 or Usher BE-718
Indiesound, I will try and reply to your questions in the next day or two.As somebody who owned the CS2's (with a highly modified DCX) for over 18 months and also owned HT3's for 2+ years, I think I can at least provide some insight into your ques...
Sophia II's and Pass Labs etc
Dvart,I have heard the REF 3 in the same system I talked about above and did not think it was a good match with the Sophia 2's. As you stated, the upper mids were forced and I also found the overall sound strident at times. There was no emotional ...
