Samsung DLP - best choice for the Money
Depending on your budget Toshiba & Cannon have developed SED sets. Google "toshiba sed."
Best used universal transport/player for $1,000?
Pioneer Elite DV59-AVi
Can you recommend a universal player for my system
Check this ad http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?homevdeo&1121307227I bought a new one for $1,000 after two denons. The denons don't compete in my opinion.
Speaker cable suggestions
Try a pair of Analysis Plus Oval 9's. They are in your price range used, and new, depending on the length you require.
Confused and out of touch a little over my CD play
Read this and skip the sacd/dvd-a. http://sound.westhost.com/cd-sacd-dvda.htm

Large monitor/small floorstander suggestions?
Try a used pair of Meadowlark Krestral's. They are a small floorstanding speaker. I had the Shearwater Hotrod's before I stepped up to the Silverline Audio Sonata III. The Meadowlarks are impressive for their cost.
Rogue 88 vs 90
Tradio,I had an 88 and a tempest (dip-switched to use a 99 as the preamp) that I used in a biamp configuration with a pair of Silverline Audio Sonata III. I now have two stereo 90's that replaced the 88 and the tempest. There is a substantial diff...
I'm totally confused about Hi Rez formats
Sbank is right. I would not bother getting into either sacd or dvd-a. The software, especially for dvd-a is limited and it is questionable whether either format will survive. But to answer your question, there are several universal players that wi...
