How crucial is the quality of a digital cable?
I've never used RCA interconnects to transfer digital signals to a DAC. But theoretically, cables which are most resistant to RFI/EMI would least likely to interrupt any digital signal stream. My first choice is to use optical cable because it's c...
Balanced vs. Single Ended Interconnects
In addition to being a lifelong audiophile, I've done mobile  sound reinforcement work as a "geezer jockey". 50-Foot cable runs between components left balanced XLR connections between BALANCED components indispensable in terms of eliminating EMI ...
Do You Tell Others How Much You Have Invested in Your System?
As with all consumer products and services, the prices audio consumers are willing  to pay for sound quality is determined by their unique perceptions of the inflection point (knee) where the diminishing returns on their monetary investments in au...
OK...here's another tweak that really works
I've found the Anthem's digital ARC produces reliable tweaks that cover th supersonic to subsonic range with total consistency. Assuming you have a compatible preamp interface, the program itself costs nothing.
What does Q mean in speaker specifications?
IIRC: “Q” simply describes a speaker system’s resonance in hertz.
Record Seam Splits
I have yet to encounter a paper inner sleeve which can’t accommodate a MoFi insert.
The greatest tweak ever?
Who does it more scientifically than Anthem’s ARC?
Thoughts on the Linn LP12 turntable
Unless I’m mistaken, Ivor Tiefenbaum designed the original LP12 to minimize relative movement between the stylus and the record’s surface. This required identical suspension loading and damping at each corner of the turntable’s platter suspension,...

Best cable for record cleaner, ever
I’ve found a way to keep my LPs completely free of surface noise. And it doesn’t cost me thing. I just keep them off my turntable. An added bonus is that the dealer’s customer service is impeccable. Highly reccomended by nine out of ten actors wh...
Dust covers
Theoretically, a relatively inert (softer polymer) dustcover absorbs airborne sound waves--when closed, attenuating them before they reach the air around the tonearm, cartridge, stylus, plinth, and turntable base. That said, I use a Linn LP12 with...
Do we really know what "Live" music sounds like?
If I’m not mistaken, amplifiers are part of every non-acoustic instrument. With a great deal of effort, I’ve learned to appreciate opera; but the amplified human voice is to me, far more listenable in any venue larger than a coffee house. That sa...
Walmart, 97 cents, for Vibration Control
Sounds like a great idea. But I already resolved all my vibration issues by painting my listening room the correct color.
My kiseki Blackheart nightmare.
