Anyone use the Walker Talisman?
I use it on LP's and CD's.. but honestly I can't tell any "night and day" difference between using it and not using it. There may be an audible difference there, I just haven't noticed it.
Granite surface plate
Try a 2" thick slab of Delrin.. did wonders for my table. But not cheap.. around $1200
Audible Illusions Modulus 3 Audio Research SP-11
I have heard the Audible Illusions 2-D was the one to get, but I never see one for sale now.
My New Large Advents
I know the feeling.. I have 2 pairs, one pair from 1972 and a later pair from 1979, I prefer the later set up with the better woofer mounted mid cabinet and the drivers mounted without the earlier very diffracted front recession. I have done a bun...
how much did you ever spend on a cable?
6 foot used Cardas Golden Cross speaker cables: 650 I think.5 foot custom power cable $1800 and you would not believe what good power cables can do!
amplifier for large advents?
Dfwlistener: The crossbraces get glued inside. Pretty easy to do even for a klutzy non-woodworker like me. Buy some maple 1" x 1" stock at home depot.. just measure very closely and over cut not undercut until piece fits snub between front and bac...
Walker Talisman for cd's
Jafant:I have used the Walker polisher/treatment fluid on all my cd's, it did in fact make an audible improvement on every disk so far. What I remember hearing was a little more transparency and focus of imaging.. a little more dynamic oomph perha...
amplifier for large advents?
My pair work nicely with a Rega Mira3. Also great with my Eagle 4. You can take the Advents up a few notches by replacing internal wiring, connectors, crossover cap, etc. I have improved the already great bass with 4 front to back 1" maple crossbr...
The Loss of a Jazz Hero - Joe Sample
Big fan.. have most of his and Crusaders recordings... he worked wonders with so many people notably Michael Franks.
Schumann Resonance 'Tweaking the Tweak'
The 77 schumann device is not a small difference to me. Turn it off and you know it right away.. turn it back on and "where have you been all my life?" I leave it on all the time. I will have to try the vibrapod feet.I have heard of some people ad...
Walker Talisman for cd's
Yes.. I'm not convinced I hear anything different using it howev er. The bigger difference was using the walker polishing fluid for cds (forget the name of that walker product).I bought the Talisman primarly for use on LP's.. can't say definitely ...
Italian speakers:Sonus Faber,Chario,Diapason,Opera
I have a pair of Chario Academy 1's. They are the best speakers I've owned and are my favorites. Probably close to SF earlier as stated above 'romantic' house sound.
In Awe of "Yessongs" Forty Years Later
YESSONGS is a favorite of mine for performance but not sound. Fantastic energy especially from Howe. SOUND: like it was recorded and a poor 2-head cassette deck. Blurry indistinct non-extended highs.. bad bass.. no detail.. I had the US pressing, ...
Wall Outlet Oyaide, Furutek, Wattgate, and others
I have the Porter port, which is very good, and the Oyaide R-1 in my main system, which had, upon installation, a slight edge in improvement over the Porter port.. I've also used the Wattgate in my Tice Solos and they were an improvement.
Rega Brio-R and Dynaco A-25
I concur the Rega R-1 is a great speaker, I had a pair for a while and sold them to a friend. And they would work great with the Mira or Brio. With a little work you can replace the interior wiring, connectors, crossover cap in the Dynaco's to goo...
