Why all speakers are imperfect
I was stuck on an airplane last night and my curiosity got the better of me, and I read the post and some of the responses. As a result I have a question: Why isn’t the sound system at an outdoor rock concert a perfect way to demonstrate Kenjit’s ...
Why all speakers are imperfect
The funniest thing is that Kenjit keeps baiting you and you all keep responding. I haven’t had time to read any Kenjit wisdom (and I haven’t read any of the above) in at least a month. And I don’t plan to for another. And my modest system with its...
Best budget streamer on the market now?
Correction on one detail: Not a USB REGEN from Uptone but an ISO REGEN.
The truth about high end speakers MUST READ
I can't believe this thread has stayed active for as long as it has.
Best budget streamer on the market now?
Uber - I’m using Volumio (29 Euro/year for one device) with Raspberry Pi (~$50 + <$30 for a case) and with Tinkerboard S (~$100 + <$30 for a case). I like the user interface and it supports Qobuz and Tidal, as well as local or network storag...
The truth about high end speakers MUST READ
@kenjit - I am sorry for you that whatever experience you have with this hobby has been so unsatisfying. But the real truth here is that the playback of recorded music for your personal enjoyment isn't your true hobby, is it? Posting weird circula...
Benchmark AHB2 - To 'mono' or not to 'mono'
YMMV indeed. Most assuredly, the amp is not the only part of the equation.  I use 2-way Joseph Audio Pulsars and am not trying to power a large woofer, and with the AHB2, they give me every bit of bass that I expect and then some. Other people hav...
Benchmark AHB2 - To 'mono' or not to 'mono'
@douglas_schroeder -I have the Frey 2 on the power side from a Qb8 that is fed by a Valhalla2 20-amp cable. The results are sublime.
Benchmark AHB2 - To 'mono' or not to 'mono'
@George - I’m not questioning the theory behind what you say. But I believe in empirical observation. Tell me you’ve done it  both ways with this amp and your way is better; I will gladly spend what I have to in order to try it. (That said, TWO pa...
Benchmark AHB2 - To 'mono' or not to 'mono'
And yes, my speaker cables (Frey 2) were more than the amp and worth every penny.
Benchmark AHB2 - To 'mono' or not to 'mono'
I might consider an Audioquest product, but since the AHB2 only accepts XLR, those would be an issue. Call me crazy, but a guy who invests in Nordost cables has no business buying a Chinese splitter for $10.99 on eBay without some nice references ...
Benchmark AHB2 - To 'mono' or not to 'mono'
George,How do I split the output from the pre-amp/DAC? Does someone make a decent splitter cable with XLR terminations? Or am I missing something?
Benchmark Preamps and Amp - For real?
DAC3HGC/AHB2 (no pre) with Joseph Audio Pulsars - definite synergy there with great definition and deep, wide image. Having not heard the pre-amp, it is not a priority for me right now. I think the extra money spent on excellent cables is probably...
Pulsars and the Mythical Armchair Speaker Maker
@soix  - Probably $450 speakers that cost $32.67 to make. Wouldn't that be ironic?
Pulsars and the Mythical Armchair Speaker Maker
@kenjit - That easy these days, is it? Be that as it may, I'm done with all of that (and my wife was done with all of the parts laying around). Besides that, I'm really very satisfied with the Pulsars that I have in my current listening space.
