Aurender n200, talk me out of signing on the dotted line
Came late to this thread, but I purchased an N200 over the past year and have never looked back. I hesitate to say it is the last streamer I ever need to buy with my modest system (Meitner, Enleum, Nordost, ProAc), but I’ve found no flaws and am s...
Good Speakers for Rock and Roll Under 15K
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned ProAc Response D48Rs....
Experiences With Costly Balanced XLR Interconnects Above $3,000
And so it begins again… the blind telling those with sight that they cannot really see. We all have mass confirmation bias.
Experiences With Costly Balanced XLR Interconnects Above $3,000
Regarding Nordost XLR cables: I owned several pair of Frey 2 cables in different lengths, but I was never as happy with them as I was with comparable lengths of Frey 2 RCA cables. Counter-intuitive based upon the way they’re supposed to work, yes,...
Ethernet Switch Recommendations Please
@chowkwan - At the risk of over-simplifying, a router provides a transition between two separate networks, whereas a switch just allows multiple devices to communicate on a given network. Technically, if you only had one device - say, a streamer -...
What was your first record?
Johnny Cash - Live at Folsom Prison. My parents had a 'record player' console and my mother used to play her records on it, and I know I heard those. But that's the first LP I bought with $5 given to me by my grandmother.
seeking advise please on my short list for new speakers? (15k budget)
+1 for ProAc - with their outstanding ribbon tweeter (and I was a 'no ribbons' guy before I heard these). The D48R is in your price range. I have the prior model - the D-40R - and love them.
Please recommend decoupling footers for DAC
I have had great results under my tube amp and Benchmark DAC with Nordost Sort Kones, and yes, the more expensive, the better. Buy them and send them back if they don't work for you.
Speakers sounding dull? MUST READ! The truth about speaker design!
I knew Kenjit had to be in there somewhere when I saw this highlight in the weekly recap....
Dust Settled Consensus- is the Benchmark AHB2 an Audiophile Amplifier?
I have owned an AHB2 since 2016. I liked it as compared with the Bryston integrated that I had at the time and so I sold the Bryston amp. Since then, I've learned that while it sounds 'good' with any combination of equipment, its performance is ve...
Cables to settle brightness
I'm willing to bet that it isn't your cables or your DAC. It is noise. And it isn't really bright as much as it is brittle, like fingernails on a chalkboard in the middle of the high end. You don't hear it specifically until it isn't there and you...
what’s a song cover that you think is better than the original?
Townes Van Zandt's cover of the Rolling Stones' "Dead Flowers"
Survey on Cost of Loudspeakers Supported On Townshend Seismic Isolation Podiums
ProAc D40Rs (original retail = $12,500 / Rosewood) on the Townshend Podiums in my 2nd-floor, wood-framed home. My impression is that they improve the bass resolution greatly and the overall image presents well at lower volume levels now. That sai...
Do I really need an " Audio Grade Network Switch "?
I have an EtherRegen on order since early December. I'm going to try it. Here's why:  Recently I was building out a wall-mount rack on the opposite side of the front wall of my listening room. (I always told my daughter that her bedroom would bec...
"Power Cords-More Recent"
I think changing power cables provides the biggest bang for the buck (as opposed to interconnects/speaker cables) AFTER you do the fuse upgrade suggested earlier in the thread. (The QSA Light Blue fuses are amazing in terms of improvement per doll...
