Pass Labs X-1, X2.5 preamp volume increments.
George, I think you misunderstood my post. It was the digital sources that lacked drive with certain passives; these same digital sources do have plenty of drive with the INT-30A. All of my phono stages worked fine with passives, Pass Labs Ono or ...
Pass Labs X-1, X2.5 preamp volume increments.
Re: passive preamps. I have used TVCs and resistor-based, and indeed, with digital sources, there was a noticeable flatness to the sound. With all of my phono stages however, this was not the case - analog had intact dynamics with either passive o...
Pass Labs X-1, X2.5 preamp volume increments.
Sorry, "Ono" is the Pass Aleph Ono, their first phono stage. I stepped down the output voltage to about 2V, and that gave me a workable volume adjustment range, while still being above the unit's noise floor.
Pass Labs X-1, X2.5 preamp volume increments.
Hi there skiroe,I recently owned two Pass .5 series amps (X150.5 and XA30.5) used with an X1. My sources have max outputs in a range of 2V (RCA) to 4.5V (XLR), while speaker efficiency was 91dB (nominal). In this setup, volume increments were borde...
IFi iusb power supply and conditioner any info?
It's doing some great stuff right now for my Mac Mini > Bel Canto uLink > Bel Canto DAC3 playback. Just got it Saturday, so about 100 hours on it. Bass is now better rendered, soundstage width and depth better, greater treble extension, lowe...
Pass Labs - new integrated amps
It was just announced this week at CES. I haven't read any reports about whether they were demoing these models, or just showing them. The press releases only have renderings of the units also, no photos of the actual units. The INT-60 is described...
Views on Siltech cables with Pass Labs Pre/Power
I use Discovery Essence - very neutral, musical and an overall well-balanced character - hence pairing very well with Pass gear. I have an Aleph Ono, X1, and XA30.5, as well as Bel Canto gear. I use balanced Essence cabling throughout, from source...
Tube preamp for Pass Labs x150.5 Amp
Try ModWright preamps - they are certainly not warm and stereotypically tubey. Dodd preamps also. Both these manufacturers use 6H30s, which might represent the sound you're after.Whatever you choose, using balanced outputs has always worked best I...
Devore Fidelity Silverback Reference.
I would not rule out any tube-friendly DeVore speakers from pairing with SS. I've had great success with many amps: tube, SET, Class A, Class AB, Class D. I love my Nines with my XA30.5.Michael Lavorgna also pairs his Nines with a Pass INT30A: htt...

New Pass Labs 250.8 - Jan 2014
Yes, the cat is out of the bag. Not a huge fan of the new look of the Xs and .8, so I'll be keeping my XA30.5 until the next iteration. I'm sure it'll be an improvement in sonics, but the aesthetics matter to me too.Looks like a radiator and press...

Any Suggestions for SS Amp for Devore Nines?
I have had a number of Class D amps with my Nines, including Red Wine, Bel Canto, and Cherry, but now have the Pass X150.5. The X150.5 was the only amp that filled out the Nines' midbass as well as my tube amps, only with more accuracy and better ...
VPI Classic vs. Well Tempered Amadeus
Have a Simplex, no knot noise here. The Simplex does have the power toggle on the back, mounted with the rest of the electronics, but I believe the rest of the models have it upfront. I'm sure you could rewire an external toggle somewhere else, but...
Upgrading from Rega P5 TT
I have a very modded (some may say fully modded) P5, and it is still better than the Simplex, but I would say I enjoy both very much. The P5 has a touch more air, is more resolving, and has better extension. The Simplex wins out in low noise and e...
