Review: Audio Research Corporation HD 220 Amplifier
I am glad that I followed this whole thread. I was shocked that you went 180 I almost bought a 2220 based on your reveiw. I was wondering how a hybrid could beat anything in the Reference line after all most companies know their products and build...
Vinyl Front End Upgrade
I havce a ARC REF II Pre and considered a ARC phono stage. I have a solid state AMP and wanted to limit my exposure to tubes due to the ongoing support of tubes versus solid state. With that in mind I settle on a Pass Labs Xono which is solid stat...
New TT/cart question
I have a basis turntable. AJ's claim to fame is that you can't hear music from the tonearm. I think it has to do with the make up of the arm. I maybe wrong but you are hearing vibration which in effect is noise. I am sure people will weigh in but ...
Three Cheers for Pass Labs
I have found Pass to be a CLass act also. I would recommend their products and espescially the after market care. If all companys treated people like the good people at Pass the world would be a better place. I also would like to add that the peop...
Who is your favorite jazz pianist
Oscar Peterson hands down, Gene Harris close second, Bill Evans should be on everyones list. Joe Sample in the modern era along with Bob James. Everyone mentioned is special so it's extremly tough to pick. I think it comes down to personal prefere...
Uneven speaker wire runs
Just throwing my 2 cents in. I would keep the lenghts the same for the technical reasons mention above. While you may not hear the difference why wonder if you are missing something. Plus resale will be easier. I purchased speaker cables a little ...
Cable elevators
I use ceramic made a big difference on carpeted floor. Would hate to not have them in my system. When I see systems without them I think in my mind how much clarity is missing. Most dealers use them what does that tell you.
what does loading on back of pre-amp for phono mea
The load is different between MM and MC. It sounds like you can set a seperate or different load for each type of cartridge. Use the settings appropriate for your type of cartridge.
combining different cables
I've went both ways on this and find that there is synergy using one manufacture. While it is hard to imagine that every type of cable that a company makes ie,. analog, digital, power will be as good when you think about it if you like there inter...
Dedicated circuits? Bldng a new house. Help.
IMHO you may consider a separate circuit for each amp, one for digital, and one for analog. That leaves your other components. When I built my room I started with four (4) 20 amp circuits using the wattgate 381 plugs which are pricey but worth it....
Basis Vector vs...
Dan,Any chance you can expand on tweaking with damping fluid. I have a basis 2200 with vector III arm. Are you referring to the fluid in the PODS? Thanks.
reluctant about home theater
I started out trying to buid a audiophile quality HT system. By that I mean I used the same amps, speaker, cable, etc., that I would use in a two channel system. The only exception being the digital processor which didn't have the by pass option l...
some simple questions about cables.
I would like to add that there is a synergy between manufactures cables. No disrespect but I have found that mixing brands can effect the sound / resolution of a system. I started with Kimber cables which were great (copper). I introduced Siltech ...
Smooth Jazz Freak needs New Artists
No offense but were do you live? Your list is very small, I would like to add to the suggestions already given (BTW are all great) Beatle Jazz, Chris Botti, 3rd Force, Rick Braun, Wayman Tisdale, Harvey Mason, I could go on but time is limited. I ...
dedicated outlets for audio equipment
No disrespect but why can't you add a dedicated line. I would have a electrician take a look at your circuit panel. Even if it is full it maybe possible to add a double breaker in the space of a single. I've found that dedicated circuits with Watt...
