Does "perfect alignment of cart" eliminate 100% ?
The question that must be asked ... what cartridge?Stylus profile, in my experience, has much more to do with the elimination of IGD than any other parameter.
disappointing VPI 16.5 performance??
The other thing nobody seems to be mentioning is that they may just be bad pressings that no amount of cleaning will solve; or, as Ncarv mentioned, groove damage on used LP's.I have found that numerous "audiophile" pressings, like the Metallica yo...
Phono cartridge for classic rock
I agree with Downunder ... give the DL-103 a try. I find it fantastic with rock but I do wish it tracked heavily modulated inner grooves better. You may find it acceptable, however. If the Denon doesn't do it for you, I would suggest the best Dynav...
Tung-Sol 6550 reissue bias in Cayin A-70T?
Thanks Ghost... I'm thinking the same thing - I'm a novice with this stuff too. I may try to call VAS (Cayin distributor) tomorrow. I tried today but didn't catch them.
Cart not parallel after Mint LP alignment?
Raul, of course it does - but those are the IEC standard null points the arm was designed around that will result in the cartridge being square in the headshell. The whole point of the OP's question.
Cart not parallel after Mint LP alignment?
Lewm - Just to be clear. Yip does indeed make the Technics protractors using the Stevenson alignment geometry. Stevenson null points are 60.3mm and 117.4mm whereas the Technics null points (that will result in the cartridge being close to square i...
Jack White's Streaming Vinyl
I think this is an awesome concept - very cool... and I really dig the music...
Phono Pre?
Well, I hate to pile on ... but I just downright love my Seduction. Even if you're not a DIY kind of person, it's worth every bit of the cost to have Bottlehead build it for you - around $670. If you're a DIY'er then you can buy the kit for $369 b...
Cayin A-70t tube rolling ...EL34 Tubes?...
A little late to the party... but I'm running Tung-Sol 6550's in mine with fantastic results. Tung-Sol 12AX7's and the stock 12AU7EH's.
Cart not parallel after Mint LP alignment?
This is as I would expect it to be - the cartridge slightly twisted in relation to the headshell - using the Mint Protractor.Yip makes the Technics protractors using the Stevenson alignment geometry. Stevenson null points are 60.3mm and 117.4mm wh...
Choices: Nagaoka MP-50, MP-300, or Garrott P77i?
I did indeed, Jaybo... which seems ludicrous after seeing all the discussion here I had prior to buying it.It was a bit of an impulse buy - and I had more pressing needs, so I sold it. I've been so very happy with my Shure/Jico SAS pairing and a K...
Cartridge for VPI Scoutmaster and Bottlehead gear.
I love the Seduction and don't think you need to upgrade it. The Eros is MM only too. If you really want to go the Low Output Moving Coil route, then I would suggest getting a step-up-transformer (SUT). The SUT will allow you run MC carts through ...
Cartridge for VPI Scoutmaster and Bottlehead gear.
One thing everyone needs to keep in mind is the OP's Seduction phono stage has 40db of gain and is locked at 47k with 50pf capacitive loading.I would go with a Shure V15 III, IV, or V and the Jico stylus; shoudl run in the $300 range and work fant...
Is 8.7hz too low for tonearm/cart resonance?
8-11hz is optimal, you're fine.If you know the effective mass of your tonearm, you can go to cartridgedb-dot-com and double check everything with the cartridge resonance evaluator there.
