The Biggest Upgrade Possible?
Our brains are wireless recievers. We need to shut down all the other processes in our heads to get into the listening-mode. Typically 15-20 minutes listening before we are "on", on a good day.One of my weirder "tweaks" is to apply some lotion on ...
What are the best Room Accustic Treaments members have found?
ieales516 posts12-05-2019 2:04am" Books, shelves, art & carpets. But then, I spent a few decades in sound studios, so I'm probably odd man out here. "This must be basic. No audiophile should ever put up big pictures with reflecting glass-fron...
Go Active Crossover or Upgrade existing XOs?
My general answer to this would be: If it is a 1.st order filter, upgrade it, if it is 2.order or moore skip it and go active.
The Truth About Power Cords and there "Real" Price to Performance
mitch22,087 posts12-09-2019 4:51pm@unfairlaneJust curious, which single wire, solid core, 9 awg cable/wire do you use for speaker cables? On the power side of things, you basically described Romex, which some well-regarded folks actually believe ...
The Truth About Power Cords and there "Real" Price to Performance
boxer123,472 posts11-28-2019 6:56am"Question? In your humble opinion, what is the best Power Cord and what do you like about them from prices that range:" $50-$100 / None$200-300 / Oyaide (DIY)$400-500 / Cerious$600-$1000 / Acoustic Revive>$1...
Romex to your amp?
Notice that Nordost`s top pc`s are solid core, not single core though but 6-7 conductors. Wery close to the famous pc Electrocompaniet came up with in the 80`s wich lead me to try out the nowegian 12awg Romex-equivalent.
Replace LAT Coax cable between Bluesound and Oppo DAC
Get your hands on a bit of Vivanco KX-710 tv-coax, put a rca-plug in each end and you will have a reference cable.
Romex to your amp?
Your non-audiophile friend is spot on. Solid core cable is the only way to avoid internal distortion and dynamic loss. No twisting or turning will improve anything but shielfing might reduce noise depending on your setup.I came to "discover" solid...
Upgrading-Clear Days to Nordost Tyr 2 or Frey 2 vs Cerious Matrix IC's and speaker cables
Guys, none of those mentioned (or other) cables even comes close to the pure, calm and shocking dynamic signal you can get from a thick (minimum 9awg) solid copper conductor. Simply because they represent a much lower resistance and eliminates i...
... WHAT POWER CORD(S) ARE PLAYING IN YOU SYSTEM TODAY?
DIY solid core 12awg (minimum) is the only way to make a 100% lossless powercord. Shielded.
Who Here Makes Their Own Power Cables?
" Solid core has big bass and more detail and stranded is smoother.."Nope, wrong obdervations. A solid wire will deliver the signal in one piece while a stranded wire will deliver separated & distorted signals from every conductor. This kills...
Beware of the cable claiming long burn in period.
About digital coax: get your hands on a piece of Vivanco KX-710 (tv-coax)and a pair of decent rca-plugs. Terminate and have funAbout burn-in:  static charges in the conductor(s) as well as the insulation might be involved, and some pure vodoo on t...
Why Power Cables Affect Sound
Don`t let me ruin the discussion for you folks, but have any of you ever tryed out solid core powercables? (ca 12awg) This might open your ears/eyes a bit (or simply be shocking)
No one actually knows how to lculate what speaker cable they need
What gauge is your poweramps secondary windings? This size defines how much power your amp will be able to push out. Forget about the amps max wattt rating, it is the amps dynamic capasity that defines the need of wiregauge.Mine has 2x9awg winding...
Do speaker cables need a burn in period?
Every component in the ac- or signal path will need moore or less of a burn/break-in. some components in the signal-path like condencers might need a long period, while a powercable gets it`s massage a lot faster.Speakercables are somewhere betwee...
