Why are there no high end cheater plugs?
I know this is an old thread....But we all come to these questions, hurdles and possibilities at different times in our quest for audio "nirvana".....Most recently I came upon this "floating ground idea" Preconceived notions thrown aside..I tried ...
Power Cords--Your Preference?
I've been delighted with Mojo's XPC-5 PC..Introducing this cord to my Hybrid Amplifier was every bit as significant as a major component up-grade..You've got to go through the agony of burn-in but it's well worth it when all is said and done.I bel...
component where PC does not make a difference
I have never experienced a zero improvement factor upon introducing a quality aftermarket PC..I suppose the least rewarding improvement was on my pre-amp that has it's own dedicated Power Supply...But even in this case their was still a worthwhile...
Why Do You Still Have Vinyl if You Don't Play it?
I have about 1000 Lp's...I thinned them down from 5000 around 8 years ago...The sonic refinement of CD's and associated playback equipment seems to have improved greatly in the past few years.Because of the comparable simplicity and ease of using ...
Fun Little Project for improving Dynamics
Thanks Ozzy...I will try this and appreciate your suggestion..I'm hoping something will improve that (stage depth loss) That I mentioned..I don't always feel like driving my system at higher volume levels...Earlier in this journey I placed the bag...
Fun Little Project for improving Dynamics
OK,(crystal tweaks) I tried this very carefully over a 6 month period...I was really curious as to the effect (if there is any) on a dedicated audio system..My system had reached a pretty good level of resolution...but the nagging thought "is ther...
MIT 330 shotguns, how do they compare to the newer
I have used MI330's throughout my whole system... At the time I felt they where easily the most neutral and well balanced I.C on the market...Lately I've been doing a lot of upgrading with power source, filters and a/c cables...Things are changing...
Two pairs of spkrs in tandem
Just an update on this "tandem speakers" set-up.With particular thanks to Hifitime, I have carried out a change based on his thoughtful recommendation that Bi-amping would be the better and safer (less potentially damaging) way to achieve good res...
Two pairs of spkrs in tandem
Thanks Hifitime. Point taken and very much appreciated.
Two pairs of spkrs in tandem
Manoterror, I forgot to adress your concern regarding over-taxing your amp.. Please take a look at Hifihvn's response to this thread. He talks about this type of parallel connection in a tandem speaker set-up resulting in an impedance drop. The am...
Two pairs of spkrs in tandem
Hi Manoterror. All I did in regards to the hook-up was run a short 4ft speaker wire from the original bottom speakers terminals into the add-on top pairs terminals. Only the primary lower pair of speakers are connected to the power amps terminals....
Two pairs of spkrs in tandem
Thanks Reylon.I think you've nailed it....There is a low level hum (60hz)or (fan motor)? coming from the Moscode. I suppose I've gotten used to it having owned it since it was new. Kal Kr4 in the first response to my thread intimated that a passiv...
Two pairs of spkrs in tandem
Hi Manoterror.I really enjoy the improvement. The stage is Huge and better defined. There is more detail right across the board. The rendering of drums in acoustic jazz is particularly exciting. With orchestral stuff it just feels more powerful an...
Two pairs of spkrs in tandem
Thanks Stanwal.I'm sure your absolutely right but the sound is clearly superior to me than either single pair on their own.I have tried all my front ends using reference material that I am very familiar with. As a musician I am very conscious of t...
Two pairs of spkrs in tandem
Thanks HiFihvn.I'm running the speakers out of my NYAL Moscode 600.As the Subs have their own 100 Watt dedicated amps and are crossed over at 100hz there doesn't seem to be overt pressure on the Moscode, although it does seem to run a bit warmer t...
