sonus faber strad power amp suggestions
I am using Pass X260.8 amps with my Strads and really enjoy the combination.  They have more than enough power to fully load my 17 X 34 X 9 room.  They stay in Class A up to 34 wpc, which means that I'm listening in Class A most of the time.  The ...
Sonus Faber owners--string grill cover alternatives
I've had Amati Futuras and now Strads. In both cases I never took the string grills out of their packaging.  Instead I just use the "socks" that came with the speakers and cover them up when not listening.  Protects them and keeps the dust off as ...
Bryston BDA-3.14 volume control
I am using my BDA 3.14 with a Pass preamp, with no apparent loss of resolution.  But when the volume on the BDA is less than 100%, it does not sound nearly as good as when it is at 100%, even when I compensate with the preamp volume.
Floored by Beatles "White Album" Reissue
Islandmandan I agree with you.  I have 3 or 4 copies and the reissue is the best by far.  I actually prefer the Esher Demos to the finished album.  Well worth the purchase price and one of my favorite Beatles albums.
Considering going back to Solid State
I did the same thing a year ago and don't miss tubes.  I had Doshi tube amps and preamp.  Before that, ARC Ref 5.  I now have an all Pass Labs system:  XP22 preamp, XP 17 phono, X260.8 amps.  First time in over 20 years there are no tubes anywhere...
My Long List of Amplifiers and My Personal Review of Each!
WC, I've been lurking and following your journey since the beginning, but this is my first post.  Have you spiked the Alexia's yet?  If not, I encourage you to do so as they will be even that much better in terms of bass, focus, clarity and cohesi...
Why are there no Reviews of the Pass Labs XP-22. Is there anyone with strong feelings?
Morningstaraudio - I am in exactly the same place as you.  After 20+ years of tubes, this is the first time I have not had any tubes in my system and I don't miss a thing.  I did recently upgrade from 250.8 to 260.8 monos.  They are still breaking...
Why are there no Reviews of the Pass Labs XP-22. Is there anyone with strong feelings?
I've had one in my system for a couple of months now and love it.  I have a full Pass Labs chain with XP17 phono, XP22, and X260.8 monos.  I don't even have to read the review...to me this is a long term keeper.Dave
Looking for phono preamp recommendations
Since you already have Pass Labs amp and preamp, why not consider the Pass XP17 phono stage?  I just replaced a Doshi tube preamp and phono with the XP17 phono and XP22 line stage.  It's the first time I've not had tubes in my system in many years...
Thiel 3.7's and Pass Labs xa60.5's- now looking for the next upgrade
I have a good friend with Thiel 3.7's.  He is using a Parasound JC5 amp with an older Pass Labs preamp and phono preamp, both are the two box versions.  Not the XP20, the version before that.  I don't hear any brightness or hardness in the upper m...
Thiel 3.7's and Pass Labs xa60.5's- now looking for the next upgrade
One more thing, the Pass gear is absolutely dead quiet, something I have never experienced with even the best tube gear.
Thiel 3.7's and Pass Labs xa60.5's- now looking for the next upgrade
I am using a Pass X250.8 amp with my Sonus Faber Amati Futuras.  I was looking for more detail, dynamics and bass slam.  I replaced a Doshi Audio full function tube preamp with a Pass XP22 line stage preamp and XP17 phono stage.  Before the Doshi,...
Doshi Jhor 90W monoblocks
I have been using my Doshi Jhor amps (original versions) and Alaap full function preamp with Amati Futuras for the last 1.5 years. I love the combination. The Doshi gear were purchased to go with my Sashas and that was a great system. But the Dosh...
is lamm 1.2 enough for sasha
I've been living happily with this combination for over 2 years. My previous room was 20X36X9 and the Lamms did fine and never ran out of steam. As mentioned above, they are a great matching amp for the Sashas. Good luck!Dave
Any bad experience with wilson audio sasha w/p?
To the original poster's question, my answer is yes I have heard the Sasha sound ragged, bright, and lack coherence. It was in my system when I made the mistake of stacking a dac we were trying out on top of my phono stage. Vinyl sounded the worst...
