hogwood and academy of ancient music recorded a very interesting version of this, almost unrecognizable as the 9th, but certainly worth a listen-- Megasm - you are right, the '77 is the better recording!

Preamp suggestions needed
If you like your CJ amp, I would get a CJ Preamp. That is really what they are famous for anyway. Some of their tube preamps are among the best commercially available, in my opinion. I like the Premier 3, Premier 10, pv-5 and pv-6.Older units, but...
cj pv10 vs pv12
I second the above post. If you like the Pv-10 or 12, I would suggest taking a look at the premier line as well as some of the older PV series. I have auditioned the pv-10, 12 and 8, and I have owned a Premier 3 (which is wonderful), a PV-5 and a ...
c-j Premier 9 DAC and 6GK5's tubes.
Just bought a set of NOS mullard 6gk5's from a guy in fL named Stan - his email is [email protected]. You can pay with a credit card, and 5 6gk5's cost me $18.00 delivered by priority mail they were brand new condition in original boxes - sound wonder...

Matching pre amp tubes?
If you don't have a ton of cash, using a tube preamp an SS amps is a decent way to get the signature sound of tubes in your system without having to sell appendages or organs to keep up with the cost of replacing power tubes in a tube power amp. M...
speaker effiency
I read somewhere that the reason that the term "efficiency" has fallen into disuse and "sensitivity" has supplanted it as the preferred terminology for describing a speaker's ability to convert an electrical signal to sound, is simply because, as ...
THE BEST SMALL SPEAKERS
I'm using a pair of Paradigm ref. active 20's and love them - excellent bass to 38hz and for the price (@ $850 used) , you cant go wrong - only need a source and a preamp - the amps are included.
Help-sibilance!
Following is an excerpt from the site: http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_1_1/v1n1amps.html I suggest reading the whole section on negative feedback. Perhaps you are getting excesive sibilance because of the amp, not the speakers... """" Negati...
