Cartridge position on headshell . . .
Yes, had used the alignment device and set this up properly.   Its just not having this particular setup playout this way before, started wondering if any issue with having the overhang even if I obtain proper alignment.
MoFi controversy
I could care less.  They certainly weren't 100% up front about things - taking the route of silence that is perhaps more troubling to some than the issue at hand.  But if it sounds good and the price is right, I'll purchase it.  If it sounds good ...
Thoughts on the Linn LP12 turntable
Had one of the first handful of those in the 70's.  Put many $$'s into it until I simply got tired of doing so when I could see other options entering the market (and being further developed by others).  Was a nice table all along.  Finicky with ...
Least Expensive Power Conditioner/Surge Protector That Won't Worsen Sound
Ah yes, as erik mentions above . . . I still rigidly decouple the entire deal from energized during lightning storms.  But my power issues were interstingly enough not to do with electrical storms so much as reductions in power followed by surges....
Least Expensive Power Conditioner/Surge Protector That Won't Worsen Sound
I've had good luck with Audioquest Niagara.  Tried many over the years (a few mentioned above . . . ) and my latest move further into a rural area has me contending with power issues 'big time'.  This unit has successfully handled them 'and' its o...
Share MYSTICAL, HAUNTING songs
Not quite what most folks would think of, but listen to 'Bus Station' by Dave Alvin.   Nothing mysterious about it, but the picture he paints remains with you long after your first listen . . . . . and for many it hits down 'hard'.
A different world
Which format better . . . . meh . . . . . which recording better . . . we're getting closer to what matters.   But streaming through these services today 'is' THE REAL DEAL.  With ever decreasing exceptions, the history of music of the past seve...
Suggestions for sturdy sub $2,000 audio rack
Happy with an Atacam rack I purchased a handful of years ago.   Solid as hell.
Spindle-To-Pivot Distance
" Why would moving the cartridge forward in a headshell with elongated slots “look ugly”, and who cares?"Indeed.  That is where my Hana rides on my VPI . . . . . .
Do any of you kids , want your system ???
Had serious talks with a musically inclined nephew of mine regarding inheritance of my audio system, recordings and (even greater interest) collection of vintage keyboards, guitars and amps that I own.  He' still on and he feels 2 of the 3 grandch...
Did I damage my speakers?
That doesn't sound like a situation of overdriving at all.Have you had those speakers that 'loud' in your listening room before?  Reason I ask is that if not, perhaps the higher listening volume is reacting more with your room and you're hearing l...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Just ended . . . . . Dave Van Ronk - "Sunday Street"
Solid state amplifiers and sound stage, especially front to back "depth"
My Plinius 9200 has substantial depth in the soundstage. That said, as understood by most, the difference in the room dictates that to a level you would not at first expect.  My old single level ranch house with a 50 ft x 40 ft living room/listenin...
Audio Rack Opinions
Many thanks for the opinions and suggestions to date . . . You know, it never dawned on me, but this new place has a small study just off the main living (err . . 'listening') room . . . . glass door and angled so that it actually complements the ...
Internet radio stations that sound really good
Good sound, great music . . . DR Folk. So many to choose from, but this one I come back to quite a bit. Broad expanse of folk music, and I'm always surprised by the incredible programming.Decent sound (lower bit rates) but arguably one of the bett...
