Cables & streamers
if the Q is xlr vs. rca, xlr wins. $:performance is another.  In my system, I can hear the electric hum/buzz when my pre is connect via rca. with xlrs, the noise diminishes to a silent hiss. the only issue is the gain in xlrs. i'm not sure whethe...
Streamer/server that works as a Roon core
My Aires G2.1 does Tidal C. Qobuz C and Airplay.  I've been considering a new scheme for local .flac and .dsf files that moves the internal SSD library to my NAS. Currently, my streamer is a server for local files and streamer for Tidal and Qobuz...
Arc Ref 5se owners
Appreciate the tips.  My unit does have the thinner cover. In a post here, a member mused about the different and thicker cover on the ref 6. To me the units look similar enough I would look into getting a replacement. However, I don't mind leav...
T.H.E. New York International Audio Show
I attended today. It wasn’t what I expected (in a negative way). The venue was unassuming. No banners or anything to indicate a major audio show was underway.    I bought a vip ticket that promised perks that were nonexistent. All I got was a che...
Snake River Audio Signature and Signature AMps series power cords.
@fthompson251 replaced what? Btw, coolest unboxing imo.
Linear Power Supply Recommendations!
@lalitk  Is this how a PS Audio power plant works plus the DC to AC conversion? I have a PP3 for my preamp  dac and steamer.
Need your input
Thanks for the comments. In my set up, the piano is positioned around 11 o clock but the drums and bass are on top of each other at 1-2 o’clock. I’m trying to get a bit more separation in the right channel.  I’m not sure whether it’s possible give...
Good outlet for amplifiers
Spending hundreds of dollars on a commoditized product one can buy for $2 at HD is a ridiculous concept but I did it anyway. I bot the AQ Edison receptacle expecting some improvement but that wasn't the case. I didn't spend too much time testing i...
Snake River Audio Power Cables - Best Unboxing
@westcoastaudiophile @kdoerner How do ferrite cores work?  Per PS Audio Paul.
Snake River Audio Power Cables - Best Unboxing
@westcoastaudiophile @kdoerner  In general should one use these ferrite clamps on power cords? I read that they act like chokes. Hence most people plug amps directly into the wall rather than a power conditioner.    btw, all the images of the s...
Amp for Sopra No. 1
Very timely post. I’m in the process of assessing a new amplifier. Currently have the Sopra 1 and a a21+.  I’m considering a Pass amp to pair with my XP-22. I don’t turn the dial > 62 to play at 85 db from my chair about 7 away. It seems I migh...
Watts! How many do we need?
@larryi  If watts tell half the story, which advertised spec of the amplifier is a better indicator? I understand amp x volts = watts. However, based on my basic search, amplifier specs don't advertise/disclose this info.I need one more variable.
Integrating headphone system
Thanks for confirming. Initially I thought I could use output 5 that is configured for HT bypass. I’ll experiment with the tape out.    Yeah. The second preamp for phono isn’t ideal. I’m doing some research on a proper phono pre.
False advertising
Hi fellow audiogonians.  I bot a Bryston BDA-3 dac, lo and behold it plays up to dsd 256! While it's an older dac it serves my needs. Good reviews including one from stereophile aka the bible.  I'm streaming from a G2.1 via USB to the dac. Initi...
False advertising
The d1100 specs claim DSD up to 256. It will playback up to 128 DoP. In my experience, it can only do DSD 64 natively, unfortunately. The dac is unable to playback higher DSD.  I found a posting from Innuos related to native DSD playback.   ht...
