Outstanding Bizango1!I'm still waiting for my new(old) table to show up on the truck; the first one I've had since the 1970's,so I can answer threads like this one. Steve O.
Recommendation for Schubert Piano Trios Op 100
I'm with Kal. The Storioni play beautifully and the sound is warm, detailed, gorgeous. Ditto their Beethoven and Brahms. Wonder why they haven't recorded anything lately for Pentatone?Steve O.
Suggestion for Brahms
My enthusiastic recommendations:Symphony no. 4 by Kent Nagano/Deutches Sym. Orchester Berlin on Harmonia Mundi: the most beautiful performance of this piece I have heard. Not a no-holds-barred performance like C. Kleiber's, but just gorgeous. Very...
Schubert
Be hard to find a better one. This performance oozes joy. And the rbcd (assuming you haven't got an sacd player) layer sounds great. http://sa-cd.net/showtitle/5787
Vienna Beethoven Baby Grand , PrimaLuna compatab
I recall seeing this rig on the systems page (below). Not exacly your pre/amp setup, but probably close to what you're thinking about. Contact this guy.I would worry about the 4 ohm impedance of the baby grand and the consequent high-current deman...

Best Audio Related Story (or joke).
I have a friend who is as nuts about classical music as I am. A few years ago, she came down to drop something off at the house. I said "before you go, I want you to hear something." So I got out Rachmaninoff's Paganini Variations (she's a piano p...
Rachmaninoff, Symphony No. 3 in A minor, Opus 44?
Ashkenazy hard to beat; sound is not up to date, though (but his Isle of the Dead is tops, bone-chilling!).For more up-to-date sound, I recommend David Zinman and Baltimore on Telarc. Playing is not quite as exciting as Ashkenazy, but it's georgeo...
Your Favorite Classical Music Recordings
Tell you what: I'll list some of my current favorites (subject to change without me noticing). And "current favorite" may mean something I bought years ago, but am enjoying again.Rachmaninov piano concertosStephen Hough (Hyperion) Natural sound; n...
