My Esoteric having issues....what should I do
Disappointing to hear as I own a X03SE and if or when it needs service I would lean on Bill for the fix as he is honest and has reasonable rates.  Know for a fact as I have used him in the past with my cj equipment.Esoterics are killer machines an...
Advice Regarding Reel-to-Reel
Sounds like a good dealI would advise getting ahold of Skywave deck repair.  Worth the wait as Sam Palmero (sp?) was the lead tech for Teac and can make it sing like new.I would NOT send it to Teac for repair and would use Skywave exclusively unle...
FR64S tonearm overhaul
Congratulations on your scoreMy buddy has the FR64S silver wired and it is a fantastic arm.  He basically gifted me a FR64FX with the B60 base when I got his SOTA sapphire (he had two). The  Zu phono cable was very cost effective and I used it for ...
Cables for Leben/Devore- Nordost?
I bought a Leben preamp from Pitchperfect and Matt was dealing and using auditorium in his dealership.  He had Shindo, Leben, and Line Magnetic as the primary line and auditorium was his connection of choice. It was more than I wanted to spend and ...
Nakamichi High Comm II
No your not imagining it.  It was and is a great noise reduction unit. No tape hiss with 25db clean noise reduction.I paid Mr. Hermann to go through mine and retain it as it truly is an excellent unit and I just cannot bring myself to let it go.I ...
Nakamichi High Comm II
I used a Hi-Com with a Revox Reel to Reel decades ago.I calibrated with the 400hz? signal to 0 db before recording on every tape. I do remember that the level was a couple of white lines higher on the right versus left channel to get both VU meter...
Accuphase DP-78 doesn't read SACD layer
Hopefully the Accuphase dealer can square you away but if not you may want to contact Music Technology in Virginia.Bill Thalmann is excellent and has fair pricing.  He modded CJ tube gear for me years ago and I know he or he has a tech that works ...
Still no real feedback on Cornwall IV - Any update?
No problemI live in Alaska and classic Klipsch are very affordable as their used to be a dealer who represented Klipsch and sold a boatload.  Because of the size and cost of shipping there is a very limited market for used Klipsch in the state.  A...
Still no real feedback on Cornwall IV - Any update?
Horn speakers are very hard to beat for rock and jazz due to the easy dynamics and efficiency.  You really should try to get in front of a set of classic JBL's or Klipsch or modern type Avantgarde and see if it suits you.  I owned two sets of LaSc...
How to improve Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill?"
I am a dinosaur so never heard Kate's version until recently.  I pretty much stayed with my 70's rock (still do) throughout the 80's with the exception of a few bands (Police, U2, Pretenders). That said I love Meg Meyer's version and think it kills...
Help me understand John Coltrane .... seriously.
OR listen to the Lucinda Williams song that says "Just play me John Coltrane"A Love Supreme is a masterpiece.
In praise of the mighty SOTA Sapphire
I just got my vac Cosmos back from the factory with the mag platter, condor and roadrunner upgrades to make it a Series VI.Had no inclination to send it in as I thought my series IV was all that.  Then figured what the hell as it is my final deck ...
Any Sota Sapphire experts out there?
Sorry poor wording Dorkyguyrandy (love the moniker by the way)It's not the armboard itself sinking it is the B60 base  weighing down the tonearm. The armboard/table is level and I use ortofon bubble levels to check on occasion. My weight is just a l...
Any Sota Sapphire experts out there?
I have a Cosmos with a FR64FX tonearm and the B60 base.  This combo is too heavy by 6 ounces according to SOTA.  I used the adjustable VTA to compensate for a very long term and slow sinking of the armboard over many years.  I thought about gettin...
